Knulli Gladiator 2. I'm just drag'n'dropping the exported pck file over smb to my device, so it's a bit cumbersome. Still ok for checking out if everything still works, every once in a while.

I made Soccer Physics and several other somewhat successful games in the 2010s. Today, I'm a hobbyist game dev focusing on making freeware local multiplayer games using #Godot. https://ottoojala.com https://ottoojala.itch.io https://ko-fi.com/ottoojala

Iβm again hooked on trying stuff out with the Anbernic.
Thanks for the suggestions! Ended up ordering a Trimui Brick. I'm gifting it to an 11-year-old gamer as her first own console, but I think I might have to try it out myself first, to see if everything works and how it compares to my RG35XX Plus.
Today, I spent several hours trying to make the tie look nicer - I'm now using ImmediateGeometry to redraw the mesh each frame, and it looks maybe 6% better than what I started with :'--)

Yeah, I remember enjoying playing it too. The multiplayer mode was good, I think it had some sort of handicap system too, which worked nice.
I wanted to make my shader beginner guides focus on one topic so it isn't overwhelming. That topic is UVs.
In Part 2 we go over some simple math to offset, scale, tile and rotate textures using UVs. Let me know if you find it helpful;

Told you so! :--) Way better than most of the EA Tetrises.
Ok so I got hooked on playing on my Anbernic again after installing a CFW that works better on my device. You probably knew already (I didn't) that Apotris is a very good tetris game. If you've got a handheld console, you should install it.

portmaster.games/detail.html?... I ported one of my older games to the thing already. It felt like a bit of a hassle, for a Linux noob, but you can just ask the PortMaster people for help if you want your games added to the catalogue.
Yes, I just switched from MuOS to Knulli like an hour ago on my RG35XX Plus :--) I've had issues with the screen using MuOS but switching to Knulli it might have fixed it now, I hope.
The clamshell model might be better for kids, at least you don't have to worry so much about protecting the screen.
You can add a piece of foam under the shoulder buttons to get rid of the rattle, but the screen on mine still starts acting up after playing for a while. Maybe I should try another CFW to see if there's a difference.
I just watched a video review of the Brick and it does look really nice. I think the only issue with it was the back plate getting hot when playing some 3D games. And the fact that they ship it with games like Balatro preinstalled is quite gross.
I'll take a look at the other two too, thanks!
Thanks, does look nice! I wonder how it compares to my Anbernic RG35XX Plus, which has been a nice toy to tinker with, but feels a bit poorly made (I have had minor issues with the screen and the shoulder buttons).
What's a good, kid-friendly, budget handheld console to get right now? Something preferably under 100e, with good and cheap games (or with emulators). I was looking at used Nintendo 2DSs, but they're more expensive than used Switch Lites now...
For me it's just color... I never remember if it is [color:"ffffff"] or [color=#ffffff] or what, even though I use it a lot.
Thanks for the suggestions on what objects to add to the game, I really needed the inspiration π
I think I'm going to first focus on adding lots of small items, like the stuff on the high table here: milk cartons, canned drinks, glasses and a bowl of bananas. They really add to the chaos, I think.
Yess, thanks, I only had some whiteboard markers before.
That'd be good for an easter egg :--)
Nice! I love RC cars.
π Hadn't even heard of Surge before :--) I might have to throw in some EuroShopper energy drinks, too...
It's already in the game :--)
This project is good for just dumping new assets into. Here's a dartsboard I just made. Is it the perfect match for a '90s office? Maybe not, but it's fun still, and I can just make it so that it doesn't spawn too often in the random generated room.
What else shoud I add?

I'm sure there are some more general sort of "osuuskunta"s that you could join here in Finland, not sure if there are any open cooperatives specifically for game devs. It's something I asked around last year, but didn't have the energy to pursue further.
Have you thought about joining a cooperative instead? I feel like, to me, it'd be the only way I'd be willing to get back to working on my own commercial projects.
It's a fun setting I think, even if it's been done quite a few times already in games and TV. But I'm also very much into the aesthetic, and old tech in general, so it feels super fun working on this - perfect hobby project material in that sense, too :--)
I don't do mood boards, but I've had this photo open in my browser tab ever since I started working on the office space... www.hs-harz.de/dokumente/_p...

Well the low resolution and the color palette help a lot :--) This still feels like the perfect project for learning 3D modelling - it feels rewarding getting stuff done, and this game absolutely benefits from just having a lot of different objects to throw around and play with.
They're super popular here in Finland for some reason. They're also highly repairable - I had to fix the power button on mine and the thing was very easy to take apart.
