even if you accepted the premise that there's a realpolitik necessity to these visits (there isn't) the leader of our country fawning like this over a paedophile and warmongerer is unspeakable. I hope history remembers MM for this

a staple of Midlands 103 (Laois-Offaly-Westmeath) and I dare say there would be riots in the streets if they ever got rid of them
one of these people has made a career out of the ethereal, the mythological, dreams and fantasy, things that people say have no grounding in reality or bearing in everyday life. the other is Enya
Enya
Norma Foley
was watching the Enya special on BBC4 last night and it hit me how much of a style inspiration she apparently is for Norma Foley
I vote we send the taoiseach to visit the Choctaw Nation every St Patrick's Day instead of the White House
when Ireland was enduring its Great Hunger it received meaningful support from the Choctaw Nation and the Sultan Ottoman AbdΓΌlmecid I, while the British Empire was exporting food and letting people starve. the Anglosphere-centric worldview of some people in our country still baffles me
when he's no longer in office he'll be writing and interviewing about how difficult this all was for him. poor MicheΓ‘l will say he had no choice but to be an adult in the room for the good of the nation, when we all know that he had other choices AND popular support for those choices

lol, it's a very Barry Lang's Beat Box selection when Iook at it
love their Black Lightning black IPA. for some reason I've never been able to find it anywhere outside of Cork/Waterford
not difficult to carbon date someone with a selection like this
Sensitize (That Petrol Emotion)
Town to Town (Microdisney)
Mandinka (SinΓ©ad)
Come to Life (The Prayer Boat)
Into The Mystic (Van)
Classic by Adrian Gurvitz (released in 1982) was still a staple of Irish night club slow sets in the late 90s, now that's what I call longevity #TOTP
were he still with us Jim McCann would probably want a word. iirc Grace was only kept off the number one spot in Ireland by The Edge of Heaven by Wham
The Strait of Hormuz is open for transit
I would love to know what the % is in Leinster House who use PT, even once a week

Ullard, or Controversyland, Co. Laois. 'Iolard nΓ³ Fearann an Chlampair' in Irish.
The name stems from an ownership dispute between two landowners in the early 1800s.

the cost of these workshops every year is a tenth of what the OPW spends on providing free car parking for public sector staff across the country
that an investment of public funds on this scale could be subject to sharing of information on a need-to-know basis is mad, frankly. all the moreso given that it involves a subject as sensitive as Wood Quay
unfortunately this is a great example of Irish local government working exactly as designed: the bulk of executive decision-making power rests with the professional managerial class, not with elected representatives
my god it's like the population of certain Dublin suburbs <COUGH>Malahide<COUGH> has a sponsorship arrangement with Tesla
a plate of bao buns. the plate itself is black and the buns are white, arranged like two eyes and a mouth, similar to the Kneecap logo
why does this bao bun recipe look like it's an homage to @kneecapceol.bsky.social

Yesterday, a 110MW off-grid AI data center outside of Dublin was switched on - and it's powered entirely by fossil fuels. Developers went with natural gas engines (specifically RICE) to bypass the grid connection queue. They claim the engines "could" be switched to HVO, and that the project will attempt to connect to the grid "when possible". What does this mean for Ireland's climate goals? According to my estimates, this single project will increase the entire country's annual GHG emissions by ~1%. Assumptions: - The project seems to be using Rolls Royce (mtu) 4000 Series RICE which have an electrical efficiency of 44% https://lnkd.in/eRX4PRuf - Modifying the NREL life cycle gas emissions factor with this efficiency yields 656.75 gCO2e/kWh https://lnkd.in/gfgs2X6P - Assuming a 90% capacity factor because AI hyperscale data centers run near 24/7 to recoup massive GPU costs - Irelandβs 2024 GHG emissions = 53.8 million tCO2e https://lnkd.in/ejjRgRpE hashtag#DataCenters hashtag#Sustainability hashtag#ArtificialIntelligence

Ireland's new fossil-fuelled #Petrotech data center will increase Ireland's **total** (everything, not just the power sector) emissions by ~1%
Absolutely nuts. A 1% national increase - for what? Come on boosters, explain why this is worth it π«

remember when social media was moderated? ah, those were the days
this is great news but I made myself laugh out loud imagining the comments this article will attract on Facebook and X
