Kids today probably don't know that just 10-15 years ago, you could go to any Taco Bell and they would have at least one $1 entry. Plop some refried beans on a tortilla and coat it with nacho cheese; I'll get the rest of the nutrients I need from packets of hot sauce.

Every article you have ever written could be replaced by the sentence "I will do everything possible to prevent left-wing politics from having a voice in Britain" and no information would be lost.

Pro-Palestinian advocacy on social media

McGinnis is married to a Palestinian woman who has posted anti-Israel content online and has a record of pro-Palestinian advocacy on his social media pages, including posts where he has referred to Israel as a β€œmurderous ethnic cleansing force” and donned a keffiyeh, the traditional Palestinian headscarf, while defending the movement.

β€œThere’s no good faith in Israel; they have killed innocent people in their pursuit of stealing land, so this is not someone you negotiate with,” McGinnis said on Instagram last month. β€œThis is a force that’s unstoppable, and they’re using American tax dollars, using the American military to accomplish their task, and it’s killing my family, it’s terrorizing my family.” (McGinnis said in the video that his wife owns a home in the West Bank.)

On Saturday, McGinnis posted a video of himself claiming that the conflict in Iran was the β€œwork of Israel, to get us to fight them … so Israel can proliferate its land and spread its borders.”

Incidentally, the Jerusalem Post tried to put together the strongest case against McGinnis's motivation they could for the /diaspora/antisemitism section of their rag and this was all they could come up with.

If there's anything dodgy about the man he hasn't gone public with it.

"No one wants to die for Israel" could not indicate far right antisemitic views under any definition, however stretched.

As a non-Patron, my guess was going to be one of the Moon and Serpent live performances but I see I'm off by several months in either direction.

I am looking forward to the reveal!

I don't know if this answers the whole question, but staged boxing is just stage fighting. It has none of the genuine athleticism of staged wrestling, a complicated mix of acrobatics and feats of strength.

It's not that boxing can't sell stories, it's just that staged boxing doesn't really work.

This is also why he's such an apt casting choice as William Bulger in Black Mass even though his attempt to speak like a Southie in that is the most catastrophically-failed accent in modern cinema

If the only disjunct between our beliefs is that I can extrapolate from Karoline Leavitt's aggressive refusal to say "a draft is off the table" to understand that it is the official position of the United States government that the possibility of a draft is on the table, okay, fine.

Repeatedly accusing someone of bad faith when they are offering a coherent and honest description of their fundamental disagreement with you is really bad form.

Yes, I do.

What is wrong with you?

09.03.2026 01:35 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

The draft was introduced as the clear context for the question about "boots on the ground."

"We're not ruling anything out" absolutely applies to both questions.

I don't think there's a draft planned. But I think Karoline Leavitt was just asked about one and spouted some bullshit. That's news.

09.03.2026 01:32 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Any response to that question that doesn't address the mention of the draft is clearly incomplete.

You're defending her words as a defense attorney might. "Technically, she didn't say this." I think it is worth holding government officials to a higher standard than "barely plausible deniability."

09.03.2026 01:28 πŸ‘ 6 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

If she wanted to communicate that all avenues *short* of a draft were on the table in terms of Trump's dedication to defending all US bases and interests in the region (an absolutely Herculean task), the ball was right in her court there, conversationally speaking. She just had to lob it back.

Asked directly about a draft, Leavitt's response was to emphasize that weaker Presidents might "remove options off the table," but Trump is open to changing "the current plan" at any time.

It is not irresponsible to hold Karoline Leavitt responsible for the words that come out of her mouth.

I agree without reservation.

This guy's on the other end of the spectrum from an Elon Musk or a Peter Thiel or a Mark Zuckerberg, though. I'm not saying that any tech bro CEO is okay. But it's important to notice gradations, especially in preparation for the show trials we'll need to hold later.

Whole lotta liberals out here frantically scrubbing their old pro-Trump posts when really who could have known? What about Trump's history, personality, history of litigation, or criminal record could possibly have warned us he'd be like this?

09.03.2026 00:15 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

I don't remember, but I can absolutely believe that.

If so, what a tantalizing and unresolved bit of Neighborhood deep lore.

I remember that it the show was very strict about never showing Fred in the NoMB. What made Lady Aberlin special? Was she a Maiar?

Plus have you ever actually seen anyone ride the trolley? I feel like it's probably just a tax dodge, and the Neighborhood of Make-Believe is a transit desert. No one ever seems to get out!

Definitely, somewhere in my top ten bands for sure, and uniquely enduring.

Both in the sense of their multiple albums that transcend their own cultural era AND in the sense that Robert is never going to embarrass us, he's going to kick ass until the end, from a retirement community if necessary.

Does Proton really support Trump? A deeper analysis (and surprising findings) Recently, allegations surfaced on Reddit that Proton (or at least Proton’s CEO) supports Trump. Hillary Keverenge from Tech-Issues Today…

This is an issue where there's a general sentiment based on a few very iffy datapoints.

The Proton CEO has said more positive things about Trump than I am okay with someone saying.

BUT they were all about specific, not-terrible things Trump did.

YMMV

I agree that taking a stand for Palestine might have been a tactical error.

I also think she could have fed less into the reasonable anxieties of a lot of people. This speech was given at a point where the Palestinian:Israeli casualty ratio was at least 20:1.
