3. Batteries, like, seriously the government of Poland tried to tweak the rules of its last capacity auction to favour gas but about 2.5GW of gas and at least 2.5GW of batteries got contracted capacity payments. Big batteries gonna go nuts.

The racists don’t care about the economy. All they care is about is white replacement theory and the fragility of whiteness.

The oil release is part of a coordinated plan by G7 countries. Germany’s Energy Minister Katherina Reiche also announced the country was opening up the national reserves.

Lyssnar på en professor i nanoteknik som pratar om varför AI är så dåligt för miljön och fattar väl inte detaljerna helt men att mina mest AI-positiva ingenjörskollegor hör detta gör det värt det

Men fy fan vad bittert :(
Själv har jag inte varit där på 25 år, så har en målbild om en tågluff dit nån sommar snart för att uppleva skillnaderna gentemot då.

One thing I've been stressing is that, if Hormuz traffic remained stopped, the monumental oil supply shock will manifest as sharp price spikes in wealthy nations that sap disposable incomes
In poorer countries, the shock will manifest as outright physical shortages.

SMRs will never be able to compete with solar/wind + batteries. They'll be obsolete before they're ready for commercial adoption, and renewables with storage will just continue getting cheaper, while scaling exponentially. Nuclear is a waste of time and money.

Today, the EC came up with a €200 million (yes, with an m!) guarantee fund for innovative nuclear technologies and now we will have operational SMRs by the early 2030s. Call me sceptical :)

Gasoline is appx 44% of a barrel of crude.
Aviation, diesel (trucking/trains) and bunker oil (ships) are appx 37%.
Eliminating gasoline by getting people to drive EVs will have the single largest impact (reduction) on fossil fuel usage and this market is easy to electrify.
Imagine 44% lower…

Stingers and spikes across nature have the same shape. Here's why.
Not everything in biology evolved for a purpose.
Spikes are a lie. They are not as spiky as they might appear.
Across nature, spikes end in a blunt, paraboloid curve — the universal curve of stabbiness.
And that's true at EVERY SCALE. From microscopic to narwhal.
Why? Whence cometh the universal stabby curve?
