Turned a stone at Aberthaw & came across 2 beautiful limestone-loving Lapidary snails Helicigona lapicida. The Vale of Glamorgan limestone walls are also wonderful for lichens - I'm going to learn some this year with the help of this highly recommended new book @britishlichensociety.org.uk

This stone stopped me in my tracks. For a moment I thought I had discovered rock art, but up close the patterns were clearly natural. With my very limited geology knowledge, my best guess is a Liesegang ring. I’d love to take it home, but it weighs more than my backpack!

Pastel still life, including a nice vase bought in a shop attached to an auction house, some ranunculus flowers, alstroemeria and an iris. The dried items on the right came from a bag of pot pourri. This was probably sold at a Cambridge Drawing Society exhibition.
