I remember when trying to forgive student loans was massive overreach of Presidential power.
This picture represents just how much of a ass Jack Dorsey is, showing that he can't even use the caps button when announcing mass layoffs.
pressing a shift key uses minimal energy but if you calculate it over a lifetime you'll find the average thought leader wastes 7.8 years with caps. you could spend that time using ai to write your next unemployment memo. next up: ditching punctuation andmaybespaces and whtbtvwls
At least Quakers get to claim the Flexible Flyer. hiddencityphila.org/2016/02/flex...
I have a laptop with a full batter so I should be fine. I'm used to unusual work settings. I only need a laptop and often work while kids are activities like scouts. But this is weird even for me.
The worst part for me is that it doesn't seem quite worth it to reverse the route through the remaining storm and then pick him up at the end of his shift so I'm camping out at a nearby Wawa parking lot. The libraries would open in a few hours but are closed due to weather.
My oldest son's first day of work started today of all days at 6am. It's considered an essential service so I drove him the 40+ miles through the blizzard down a mostly two-lane road. We kept it to about 35-40 mph and it was fine as long as you didn't need to use your brakes.
Robert βJacobβ Hoopes has pled guilty to βaggravated assault on a federal employee with a dangerous weapon,β a charge stemming from his participation in a protest against ICE in Portland last summer.
At his sentencing, Hoopes may face up to 20 years in prison and/or a fine as high as $250,000.
Anyway, @friendsjournal.org is planning an issue on the Quaker peace testimony today. More info on our submissions page. www.friendsjournal.org/submissions/...
Is the Quaker peace testimony stretching so far that it now includes violent protest? I hope not. But judging by Facebook reactions maybe that's the case.
The family too. I know them personally by acquaintace, like them. But they've been telling everyone for months that Jacob is pure as driven snow and that Quakers should help fund his defense because of course he's innocent. Where does this leave us now?
Lots of feelings on this. The initial response of a lot of Friends was that he couldn't have done any of this, because of our peace testimony. They were outraged at a heavy-handed police tactics apprehending him. Yet what do you expect of someone suspected of assaulting a federal officer?
It's not often that you can talk about Quaker breaking news, but, well here we have some.
This is the kind of thing white supremacists have been doing to Emmett Tillβs memorial for decades.
Itβs wild to see them do this to a white woman who the entire world saw extrajudicially murdered.
This is so delightful.
I miss the days when the internet was more random. I was just looking up a professional service provider and found an 11 year old video of them as a high school senior basketball player being interviewed after winning a game. Totally irrelevant to my search but fun nonetheless.
This may end up being a massive own goal for the Trump administration.
The idea that the Chamber of Commerce is "left-wing" is beyond insane. It is completely disconnected from reality. Chamber of Commerce was to the right of Reagan.
π Invoking Orwell, a federal judge has ordered the Trump administration to restore panels and historical acknowledgments of the history of slavery that the National Park Service removed in Philadelphia. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

The word "peace" is used often by officials of all kinds worldwide. I've always wished that a reporter would ask them for their definition of the word "peace." If it's absent of justice, it isn't peace.
Democrats should promise, today, that Melania Trump, Elon Musk and Peter Thiel will be stripped of citizenship and deported if the administration advances this effort

From Craig Barnett on #Quakers: βIt is important that we start to tell ourselves a true story about what is happening now.β
A lot of Friends brushed off the decline for the last few decades so my default state is skeptical but I have been hearing a lot of stories like this from over.
The big tech founder whose 417-foot, $500 million superyacht needs a 256-foot, $75 million superyacht to "shadow" it -- because the bigger yacht lacks a helipad -- had to cut his paper's newsroom almost in half, for reasons
Jeff Bezosβs wealth has increased an average of $70 million every day of 2026, meaning that he could have offset The Postβs losses with what heβs made since Monday.
Bezos isn't destroying the Washington Post because it isn't profitable. He's destroying the Washington Post because he's calculated that a robust free press threatens the ability of his class to warp society around their interests
Some day, after the documents from last ten years are thrown open, we're all going to pretend to be shocked by so much that has been pretty obvious.
Bending Spoons got rid of unsustainable pricing tiers, rewrote code to be fast, dropped gimmicky features the old leadership had implemented chasing VC money (eg a Slack clone they had bolted on). Every step was criticized but the app is so much better now.
Bending Spoons did the same thing when they bought Evernote a few years ago and while it undoubtedly sucked for the employees it really turned the product around.
