Representing and Re-Presenting
On my word(s) for wheeling through 2026
Resurfacing here after not sharing much to re-present my newsletter, "Wordy and Wheely", and my word for 2026 (Representing) as well as what it means to me as a #Disabled, #Neurodivergent, #Queer and #Trans person, performer and writer - and why it matters: tinyurl.com/WAndW75 #RepresentationMatters

Fabulous! Thank you. Do you know if there will be a UK release as well? I think a lot of readers here (both academic and general audiences) would value your book (and I know I value your newsletter!).

Hi Kristen, I'd love to interview you and/or write a review, or both (whatever's most helpful!) for my newsletter, Wordy and Wheely, in which I write about disability representation and casting as a UK-based performer/academic/wheelchair user. Let me know if you'd be up for that. Thank you!

Reflections on my due date, and what disability means for me and my mother, offered via fictional parentsβ relationships with their disabled kids in my favourite TV programme.
This week's #WordyAndWheely: personal-academic reflections on parents' relationships w/ disabled children in #CallTheMidwife Series 14, how the #DisabilityRepresentation resonates around my #DueDate as a #Preemie w/ #CerebralPalsy - & my relationship w/ my mother tinyurl.com/WordWheel13

Jill Trottwood reminds me so much of my own powerhouse single mum - bouncing wheelchairs up and down stairs, advocating fiercely for Andrew despite exhaustion (even in the 1990s!). I owe her everything I am today. Grateful to #CallTheMidwife for showcasing parents like them! #BrainInjury #Disability

Authentically Accurate: Themes of Disability Representation in the 2024 βCall the Midwifeβ Christmas Special
Grateful (non-spoilery!) personally professional musings on how watching this yearβs CtM two-part episode made me feel as a disabled performer and adult β and kid, too
An extra #WordyAndWheely this week! My (spoiler-free!) perspective on themes of #DisabilityRepresentation in this year's #CallTheMidwife Christmas Special (with grateful discussion of @stephenmcgann.uk's own writing on accuracy and authenticity in medical period drama): tinyurl.com/WordWheel8 #CtM

Traditions, Sacred and Secular #WordyAndWheelyWednesdays
On the comfort of βCall the Midwifeβ Christmas Specials, and continued disability representation in continuing β and period β drama
As it's both Christmas and Chanukah, this week's #WordyAndWheely newsletter theme is traditions, secular and sacred. It considers the comfort of past #CallTheMidwife Christmas Specials, and CtM's continued commitment to #DisabilityRepresentation. No spoilers for this year: tinyurl.com/WordWheel7

As someone who is a non-ambulatory powered wheelchair user and works in the arts (albeit in the UK), Iβd love to chat in more detail about this, if youβd be up for that, Andrew? (Also huge thanks for everything you do!)
