I think since the games industry/gamers are so, so often needlessly cruel, some people like, “overcorrect” and reject all criticisms in the indie space.
Like, criticism is good! Of the work at hand + business practices! It’s just important to find folks who will be honest AND constructive.
I have quite literally never played a single hand of Balatro but I blast that theme on repeat every day.
It’s still absolutely surreal that Fiverr contract work got a TGA orchestral remix but it is proof we don’t live in the ABSOLUTE worst timeline.
If it’s safe to assume this is about the RE Review Discourse of the Day… sometimes a Nice and Normal person has a bad take, and the fact that can so easily snowball into 100s of people who don’t know a thing about a person viciously digging into them is one of the nastiest ills of a site like this.

It’s like, Overwatch will fundamentally be and represent so many different things to so many different people — it becomes a shared point of comparison, but people have these *completely* different visions of OW contextualized by time and cultural moments.
I think this also happens with WoW/MMOs.
I know saying “Overwatch is special” is preaching to the choir here but your point about people being mad at an OW fumble/some other gripe is also so interesting.
It’s a 10-year-old LIVING game, and that means people have seen so many different “Overwatches”.
I honestly don’t think Overwatch can EVER lose this particular juice. Blizzard’s 10-year-old cinematics could carry that emotional weight by themselves.
It was the first game to do what it does, and the imitators usually lack some je ne sais quoi — maybe character design, maybe tight gameplay, idk.
I’m convinced there are VERY few hero combos that hit quite like a synchronized Brig/Ana duo. When the gears are turning and the peels are working, it’s one of my favorite support backlines to play with a friend — you just feel so unstoppable. It’s like Zarya/Rein levels of dopamine.

Exactly! The way he scrapes by is quite literally farming outrage like 5-6 times a day. Even if he DOES have a good time, I’m sure he’ll find a way to harass someone — his livelihood depends on destroying others.
