Iโd say it will depend on your goals. If you just want to grow a list quickly and hopefully turn them into buyers, a free reader magnet can be great.
If you want to catch them while theyโre warm, a link to a bonus scene in the backmatter since they just finished the book.
I use mailerlite classic and Iโm quite happy with it. Itโs very worthwhile when you take the time to market to your list strategically.
