It's hard to put into words how much of a difference you can make to someone's day simply by reading a story they wrote, sharing it, and telling them that you liked it. Not only is the reading itself a worthwhile pleasure, it's also just a wonderful gift. It's so worth doing

honestly i don't think it would have changed the result in a positive way even if they did split strategy. with how much power the mercs have, they were inevitably going to surpass the ferraris, they wouldn't have been able to defend 1st all the way to the end 😔. lots of ifs though, like you said.

it's very obvious by the way fred vasseur has been talking that ferrari isn't here to play this year. they've been working on this car for longer than any other team.

i'm not putting the cart before the horse but it seems like they are deeply serious about this season.

everyone loves their weird ferrari clown nose so much they jumped to calling it what it wasn't. there was no way ferrari was beating the merc in the long game in melbourne, anyway. ferrari had a perfect race for them no notes. what they need is an improved PU/merc's PU nerfed.

a lot of writing for publishing especially requires tight writing with strict word count thresholds. it's really hard to kill your darlings! but a good life hack is to save your cut content in another document. maybe you can find a way to use it in the future 😉

(it can mean removing characters from the narrative as well to avoid side character bloat but it isn't about literally killing said characters in the narrative!)

idk who needs to hear this today but "kill your darlings" doesn't mean to kill off your characters! it's part of the editing process in which you might have sentences, paragraphs, or even chapters you really like but ultimately don't serve enough narrative purpose that they're better off cut!

under no circumstances do we dogpile, attack, condemn, or censor things we find "icky". because next thing you know you're only going to be allowed to look at art of a white cishet man and white cishet woman doing missionary with the lights on. if even anything sexual at all. they will come for you.

grow up and learn how to handle curating your space like an adult. most people use tags and warning labels to hide their art (and if they don't, they need to! start labeling your nsfw you fools). mute words/tags you dislike. block/mute people who post stuff you're not into.

in the last year especially i've become more vocal about how we absolutely under no conditions can allow for censorship of artistic expression (especially in though not limited to nsfw cases). this affects everyone, and the lesson today is: they will come for you. they won't stop at "gross" porn.

i once got asked by some puritanical weirdo: "Why are you so defensive of [weird porn]" (I think it was lolis but it might have been dub/non-con) - and, the answer is two fold

1) any system that stamps out "bad porn" is going to be used on all artistic expression and you by the worst people

2) the human brain is fucked up and weird and you don't have a choice in what turns you on. you DO have a choice in *how* you engage with that fact. A healthy relationship with sexuality means knowing how, when, and why you engage with fantasies and finding people who share your fantasies

i see someone use the word "degenerate" even to condemn some more highly niche/"out there" kinks and they're getting blocked. you are a fascist. you are a fascist. you are a fascist.

you should defend "weird" kinks. you should defend furries. anything otherwise makes you complicit in fascism.

people *KNOW* adults come in all shapes and sizes and proportions. someone should be allowed to have a character they find sexy that is perfectly representative of human adults in stature and body type. any behavior trying to condemn this is fascist.

not enough people pissed off about the "child coded proportions". say goodbye to size difference! say goodbye to flat busts. never mind if the character is ostensibly and irrefutably adult--if they're 5ft tall and have a bust smaller than B-cups they're a child now! bc we say so!

ntm the unfortunate truth is that many people who share posts like that still wouldn't back it up if it's presented to them as a situation to comment on. yes, some people learn and grow and change, but many share stuff like this without integrating into their actual belief system.
