Good afternoon, all! Our volunteer roster this coming Sat is looking quite healthy - thank you. We could do with one more to help with close down. And more marshals are always welcome. #parkrun

Hopefully that is "worse" as in "most satisfying to have completed"?! 😜

Certainly there were claggy sections/patches. Overall, bit of a mixed bag really - something for nearly every taste in mud consistency! πŸ˜€

Yes - our parkrun course is certainly character building during the muddy season! πŸ˜€

A gloomy day - but that did not detract from all the parkrun enjoyment #parkrun

Well done to today's 171 muddy parkrunners - and a big thank you to our crew of 56 fantastic volunteers who made our event possible.

The mud was, variously, sticky, gloopy, slippery, puddly - but we made it through to the end! #parkrun

Misty grey/blue scene from the park on a still morning. A lake in foreground reflects the bare branches of tall trees on the bank. A boat house is in the middle distance. Two tiny figures can be seen, walking along a path on the bank. The sky and water are almost identical grey/blue colour, giving the scene a somewhat dreamy effect.

A misty grey Dunorlan Park earlier this week... but come tomorrow, there'll be bright parkrun colours aplenty. Do join us for your weekend fix of running, jogging, walking or volunteering. First timers briefing is at 0850, near the cafe.

Character building mud continues to feature on the course!

THANK YOU! We have a big smile on our faces this week because we have a lovely and full volunteer roster!

Among our 20 first timers to RTW parkrun, we also give a big WELL DONE to Ellie Johnston for being the only person tackling their first ever parkrun this week. πŸ™Œ
Take a look at the results and bask in the new layout of the listings for volunteers too: www.parkrun.org.uk/royaltunbrid...

This week was officially the gloopiest we can remember, but that's okay because it was also rather smiley *and* we noticed glimmers of sunshine. β˜€οΈ
There were 129 5k-yers and 47 volunteers and we have a big WELL DONE to Elizabeth Fraser for being the one person to achieve a personal best. πŸ‘

It is muddy in places. Do not be fooled by the paths at the start, they lead to the Hippo Dip (nicely full) and the Events Field (which is definitely an event to circumnavigate).
Our parkrun is a friendly event and lots of fun but if you have trail shoes and waterproof socks we recommend using them!

Now the sensible, important plea is over with, it’s time for the sensible, important event information:
First timers briefing 8.50am
Full briefing 8.58ish
Start 9am

We need people to be enthusiastic and happy because they’re not running or walking 5k (which given muddy winter attendance numbers we know is a few of you). If you can help, please send us an email to royaltunbridgewells@parkrun.com

Also, we need LOTS more marshals, so we’re hoping those 24 hours are long enough for us to find them. Could you check behind the sofa or under your cushions or in the back of the cupboard and see if you can find us some volunteers? Or if you can’t find any, could you maybe volunteer yourself? Please

Tomorrow, Saturday, is parkrun day and we cannot wait.
But we have to wait because there are still 24 hours to go…

Please don’t leave us to another last-minute plea in the pre-parkrun briefing!
Please email royaltunbridgewells@parkrun.com to volunteer for this or any future weeks. Thank you.

Do you see that person, sitting under a tree, wondering if anyone will volunteer to marshal or help with close down this week? Wouldn’t it be lovely if their wish could be answered?

Conditions were standard winter mud, which meant just two PBs, although we repeat our mantra that you're all winners!

And another well done to the two completing their first ever parkrun, they were part of a cohort of 26 first timers here.

Here are the results: www.parkrun.org.uk/royaltunbrid...

It was the annual lowest number of participants parkrun this morning, with a paltry 114 of you enjoying a particularly spacious start funnel, and a bumper 53 volunteers as lots of people rested their legs before the Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon tomorrow. (Good running to those brave/mad souls.)

First timers should arrive for their introductory briefing at 8.50am.
The full briefing starts at around 8.57am, please arrive in good time.

And most important of all: everyone is welcome! Run, walk, jog, hop, skip, jump, complete your 5k at your own pace.

A photo taken from behind Royal Tunbridge Wells parkrun RD Erica. She’s wearing the blue RD top and we can just about see that she has a megaphone in front of her face, which we assume she is using to call to two people who are out of focus in the distance. All the action takes place in Dunorlan Park.

If you’re resting your legs for Sunday, or for any other reason (you don’t have to be a runner to volunteer at parkrun), we’d love it if you volunteered to marshal or help with close down.
If you can help - no experience is necessary - please email royaltunbridgewells@parkrun.com

Which means we know quite a few of you will most likely be taking this Saturday off parkrun. So why not volunteer instead?
You still get your parkrun fix and we get a lovely, full volunteer roster.

It’s that time again… Tunbridge Wells is gripped by Half Marathon fever as many of us who once thought 5k was impossible are now planning on testing ourselves with more than four times the distance.

😬 this is why people should stick to the nice, welcoming muddy puddles of parkrun!
Well done for surviving the potholes.
