THE DEER The deer, beneath the streetlight, I saw it become nothing. I saw it walk through the grass as if a minute before it walked it had been grass, and knew if I were wiser, I could be a deer with a man insideβ but this is not a deer, it's nearly a man but not quite man, it's only a man beneath the streetlight. I'm saying, elongated, thin the adrenaline is a river, a herd of clear stones, and my high will not decrease anymore not like the way I surprise myself at where I've arrived. Perhaps this is a sighting of sorts. Perhaps this is a prayer.
