That's right. Most older builds are gravity fed with header tanks for cold water. Newer systems run at mains pressure.

Over here I notice they are designed to be powered constantly with the thermostat set to 140F/60C to protect against Legionella.
I asked about a heat pump water heater last time my tank was replaced. Plumber said the electricity cost savings wouldn't cover the additional price of the unit in its lifespan. That was 6 years ago, things may have changed now.

I have no experience with stratas where there are only a handful of units. I wonder how well they operate.
He is probably an outlier, but I have a friend who moved from NW to Pitt Meadows and he doesn't drive. He loves it. We meet up for drinks in Port Moody occasionally - we both take transit home and he usually gets home quicker than I do.
