A prime example of why choosing the right tool for any given job is so important.

this is the most "fuck you" i've read in a court document in a long time and i'm so glad it's aimed straight at DHS and ICE.
Good on you, Judge Birey for not mincing words.
@backtoanalog 'twas a rotring 600 in black lava finish. i didn't get it :(
we're 1 week out from #gally1 and I'm so sad I can't go.
i am spending my friday staring at ebay waiting to bid snipe on a vintage #fountainPen . what's my life come to? (/j)
I'm also binging Numberphile videos while I wait.
Yoseka has the panda kakunos in stock! Woo!
#fountainPen
I did a thing this weekend!
I just finished #CornerGas. What a wonderful show, and as someone who spends a lot of time in small towns on the (American) prairie, it was just like visiting friends. I can't wait to watch the animated show, but I'm going to give it some time.
So I put in a job app yesterday and now my mind is all "what #FountainPen (s) should I take?" Should be professional but classy and able to generate interest for conversation. Also over sized pens are out.
My short list is currently my L2K and Pilot Decimo. Perhaps my new twsbi obsidian, though […]
My kaweco supra has an issue where it'll write just fine for several pages and then just stop. I can get it working again by priming the feed or letting it sit for awhile, but it's still tedious. Cleaning, even with an ultrasonic cleaner, hasn't fixed it. Since it's a basic bock nib and feed, I […]
reminder from professional tech support: If you have mission critical files, treat them as such. Back them up and have protections for them. Also, Back them up.
[Corner Gas s04 finale kinda spoilery]
Holy crap, #CornerGas Season 4 Finale got me so good. I was so afraid they were actually doing a split and would either split between toronto and dog river or we'd just lose Lacy. Too many sitcoms have gone down both options and come out for the worse.
Christopher Webb @cwebbonline.com A Black man was killed by ICE (off duty) in Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve. And like Renée Good, he was an American citizen. But most people have not heard about Keith Porter. I need y’all to realize this. Black people experience this lack of visibility all the time when it comes to being victims. Photo of Keith Porter below
I did not know, and I am ashamed to live under a system of racism that spans the highest offices, to sentencing, to profiling, to hiring, to media and beyond. Minorities are constantly under attack here: intentionally, unintentionally, and even inadvertently.
Listening to a new (to me) album every week: Week 1/2:
1989 (Taylor's Version) - Taylor Swift - I really enjoyed this album. Only 1 song was a skip.
I really want to love the kaweco sport, but it's just way too thin for me. I love everything else about it.
#FountainPen
Fun fact of the day, brought to you by @astronomycast : a spaghettified human would be about 70 light-years long
Vanishing Point #FountainPen : *refuses to write*
Me: ugh, I know it's been a while since I've used this pen, I guess I finally found the nib dry out time
*Dips nib in ink*
*Pen dies again*
Me: wth? *Looks at the cartridge, which is empty* oh, that's why.
i'm coming up on a rough decision: Does #StarTrekENT season 4 have 21 episodes and end with Terra Prime, or 22 episodes ending with "These are the voyages"?
2026: the year the Japanese #FountainPen dies. Seriously, what the fuck is up with these price increases. $500 for a pro gear?!?!
I just discovered @UncannyMagazine has a monthly podcast. Instant download to keep me company at work.
Coworker, reaching for my vanishing point #FountainPen : "can I borrow your pen for a second?"
Me: noooooooooooooo
Coworker, shocked: wow, you don't need to be so possessive
Me, grabbing a pilot varsity: you can use this, not my vanishing point.
Coworker, looking at the nib strangely: uhhhh […]
My annual caffeine intake stands at: 1 can of soda
Hand-coloredHistorical book illustration showing an author’s portrait from Stellarum octavi orbis inerrantium accurata restitutio (1598). A middle-aged man (Tycho Brahe) with a short beard and mustache faces forward, wearing a dark cap with a white feather, a high ruffled collar, and layered dark and pink garments with a gold chain. He is framed by an architectural arch decorated with colorful heraldic shields and coats of arms arranged around the border. Latin text appears in a panel beneath the portra.it
a periodic reminder in loving memory of Tycho Brahe -- it's always worth it to leave the party to pee!
Relatedly -- mind your nose whenever dueling!

Reminding myself (again) and anyone else who needs to hear it:
You don't have to bear witness to every atrocity just to stay informed
Shielding yourself from some of that psychic damage is not a lack of caring
Doomscrolling offers illusory control but real despair
Had to ultrasonic my twsbi diamond 50 ink well. The metal tube got clogged with ink. Goal for 2026: use up the ink in my ink wells.
One “debate” that I’d like to see stay in 2025 is whether audiobooks count as reading. Reading is already on the decline and we should encourage any form of it instead of gatekeeping or judging how people read.
Here's to a better year. Off to 2026!
So apparently now Ferris Wheel Press is now shipping glass bottle inks with little to no packing material for protection. Can that company be any more of a joke? #FountainPen
As part of my #StarTrek rewatches, I've been reading through behind the scenes info on each episode.
Apparently #StarTrekENT s03e03 "Extinction" wasn't well recieved? This is news to me! I've always enjoyed it. According to wikipedia it was seen as "yet another crew turns into something else" […]
