I'm not sure how we get away from this system. The current way medical school and licensing is handled kind of funnels us to this technician mindset.
And that's not a mindset that lends itself to caregiving, which is why nurses are frequently better at treating people.
This is a bit of a problem, because if the solution doesn't fit, there's almost no options for getting it changed. The patient is blamed for not doing the solution correctly.
Even if you can show you did the solution correctly, they'll blame you for it not working.
Those professions are about seeking knowledge, or about diagnosing and coming up with possible novel solutions.
Doctors are technicians. They diagnose problems by trying to fit a set of symptoms to a possible solution.
The following is opinion based on the vibes I get.
I feel like there's this popular belief that medical doctors are similar to scientists, and they really aren't. Neither are they similar to engineers or mechanics.
I learned through many hotel stays that scrambled eggs from a warming pan give me trouble throughout the day. The same is true from fast food breakfast sandwiches. The exception is the round egg on egg mc muffins.
Recently I thought of a definition to determine if a game is enough like Dungeons and Dragons to be called a descendant. The definition has two parts.
1. Characters advance by gaining discrete levels.
2. A weapon called a longsword exists that has a base version that is one-handed and 1d8 damage

I may be misremembering, but vair is also a pattern in heraldry (named after the fur like a few other ones). You might be able to call slippers utilizing that pattern vair slippers. Although I feel that is wildly unlikely.
