Reform or Deform: That is the Question. thirskandmalton.laboursites.org/reform-or-de...
Nigel Farage announced Reformβs βshadow cabinetβ, but failed to appoint a shadow foreign or defence secretary.
In todayβs era of instability in international relations, defence is essential for our security and foreign affairs are vital for our prosperity. Farage does not care about our country.
The intended purpose of the Act is to ensure that everyone in society, regardless of their protected characteristics, is treated fairly and with dignity and respect. This is a good thing. It ensures no one is on the outside.
Reform UK have revealed that they would scrap the Equality Act. The very act that strengthens rights regarding equal pay for equal work between men and women. Explicitly prohibits discrimination based on age, sex, sexual orientation, etc, to name two positives. This is shameful.
Thanks to Labour Mayor, davidskaith.bsky.social, step free access to Thirsk Station is coming soon. "This is great news for Thirsk and the surrounding area, meaning more people will be able to access fast trains to York, London, Edinburgh, and beyond." thirskandmalton.laboursites.org/coming-soon-...

Jim Ratcliffeβs company Ineos gets Β£120m govt subsidy to help save the UKβs last ethylene plant at Grangemouth.
Ratcliffe is worth $14.7bn (Β£11bn). Can he not invest? Will he be back for more?
Govt is not taking any equity stake. Β£120m is not repayable.

The Conservatives relied on their hereditary peers to block the Employment Rights Bill last night.
33 Tory hereditary peers voted in a division lost by 24.
It's outrageous that millions of low-paid workers may be denied sick pay by people who owe their positions to an accident of birth.
(4/4) I visited the renovated Riverside Youth Club in October & was amazed by the activities, support, & creative resources. Itβs a glimpse into how the National Youth Strategy will combat youth isolation & offer meaningful connections in our communities.

Labour launches Β£500m βBest Startβ child support programme
Best Start launched by Keir Starmer. Β£500 million plans to open 1,000 new centres by 2028. The expansion is part of the Labour Government's commitment to replace the over 1,400 Sure Start centres closed by the Tories.
So what has the Labour Government done in the last year?
Lots done, lots more to do.
Resigning from the political party that is in power in Westminster with a huge majority to shout on the sidelines in a socially conservative Corbyn fan-club doesn't feel like the power-move that some apparently think it is.
Still, there'll be social media clout and a virtuous feeling in it.
Labour's plans to build 180,000 social homes is the biggest boost to social and affordable housing in a generation.
That's 6 times more than the Tories delivered in the same time period.
Reform lying again...
Care on the doorstep..The idea is to shift work out of overcrowded hospitals and into local hubs staffed by a mix of GPs, nurses, pharmacists, mental health specialists and other medics
