As part of a more in-depth review of Xinjiang judicial stats, I've also gone through and reviewed the sentencing data for all the other provincial regions too.

The other day, I had to inform an Uyghur person outside China that their relative passed away in detention in 2017-2018 (this information was somewhere in the ~50000 internal records we have access to).
It's 2025, and they didn't know.

With Uyghur artists, it seems like it could go to both ends of the spectrum.
Some, like Abdurehim Heyt and Senuber, as well as Abdulla and Mominjan, were detained relatively briefly and resurfaced to say good things.
Others, like Ablajan and Memetjan Abduqadir, simply vanished into prisons.

Careful what you ask for.
With enough of a push, they could put Senuber on camera to talk about how she needed to "study" for a certain period and how well she was treated while there.
Not clear if the people organizing this did their research, but let's hope he makes lots of videos.

这里谷歌翻译有点问题,应该是“美国本可能成为一党制国家”,因为原句表达的是一种过去可能发生但未实现的假设。

Reminiscent of when he proved that he could be critical of government by lamenting the lack of proper bike lanes in Shanghai.

And while I don't have the power to pull people I know out of detention or bring them back to life, I do have the power to not forget them, to keep watch over their situations, and to hound the people who did this to them, for as long as I live.

Of the three people I testified for, Abdugheni should be finishing his sentence next year (though who knows if he's still alive and what shape he'll be in), Ilham was still missing as of a few years ago, and Qahar has not been revived.

In mid-2018, I also didn't know what actions could put people at risk and kept everyone in the piece anonymous.
But as groups like Atajurt soon showed, it was important to speak up clearly for those who were detained, and so I did this later: www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKeT...
