Why?
Why?
Three young, smiling children hugging, beneath the text, "Scrap the two-child cap and tackle child poverty."
The two-child limit is cruel, self-defeating and traps children in a life of poverty.
It's time to end it once and for all.
Wirral Liberal Democrat councillors speak out for legal immigrants claiming Asylum in the UK with an emphasis on the โAsylum Hotelโ in Hoylake โ acknowledging that fear mongering will not help anyone and that we must have compassion and empathy when dealing with such subjects.
Tories continue to have no shame.
This might explain why theyโre so keen to close the hotels?
My closing remarks;
โMost of my constituents work in the private sector, if theyโd lost their employer ยฃ8m then theyโd no longer be employed by the organisationโ
โIs it likely that anyone will be dismissed because of this?โ

Audit Committee last night, looking at the scandal of the works in central Birkenhead.
Very serious issues with the whole process of tendering led to projected overspend.

โIt is not at all clear whether the control failings for this contract are a one-off or are replicated elsewhere within other contracts and this will need to be urgently investigated.โ

โIt is apparent that at least part of the problem has been the frequent changes of senior leadership within regeneration and a lack of continuity and communication.โ

Cllr Stuart Kelly said, โThere is a clear failure of different council departments to work together and a total lack of information to council members regarding the risks within this project and clearly members have not pushed hard enough for information.โ

The all-pervasive culture of secrecy within the regeneration department continues to keep us in the dark. These reports and all other documentation that will illuminate for us the reasons for this failure must be released immediately
who knew what and when, why the overspend has only come to light now and why itโs so large?
Liberal Democrats are clear that we cannot vote for anything that strips disabled people and those who care for them of vital support.
Elderly man in a wheelchair by the window taking medication. Black and white photo. The caption reads "1.3 Million PIP claimants are at risk of losing support".
Countless people rely on this support to stay in work and just go about their daily lives. To strip that away from them is not only senseless but cruel.
Ministers must change course.
Calls by the councilโs Liberal Democrats for the council to take action, warning tax payers โcould end up footing the bill for system failuresโ.
โit was โbad newsโ for small and medium-sized businesses who โoften run very tight margins and may struggle to survive due to unpaid billsโ.
Black and White photo of President Trump. Above are the words 'Our NHS is not for sale'
If precedent is anything to go by, Trump will be working behind the scenes to extract more concessions for his trade deal.
We need a cast-iron guarantee that the NHS will be exempt from any kind of Trump deal and that US tech giants won't be given a tax cut.
A graphic of a man that is sad in a wheel chair, with text above him saying: Labour's Welfare Cut Double Whammy
Cutting PIP will do nothing to help people into work, when so many rely on this support to stay employed.
Slashing carers allowance will hurt those selflessly looking after loved ones and taking pressure off our NHS.
Whilst this is good news and a win for devolution there is still a lot of work to do with local groups like Glenavon JFC who use the Glen and Solly fields.
Detailed plans must not displace existing users of the playing fields at Woodchurch Road.
LCR must engage on the design.

child poverty isnโt inevitable
The most effective action government can take is to end the two child limit.
Have a look at this report from child poverty action group-

It is clear- โAbolishing the two-child limit is the most cost-effective way to reduce child povertyโ
Six milestones, five missions, three foundations โฆ Starmer loves a list. Hereโs one for him to take to the EU-UK summit this weekend:
Heswall's 3 councillors have resigned from the Conservative group on Wirral Council after falling out with the leadership.
The new leader of the Labour group was supported by just 15 of the 29 Labour councillors.
Wirral needs stable leadership, not juvenile personality clashes.
An update on how Labour is planning to save the NHS

Disappointing that none of Wirral's MPs have signed the letter to Keir Starmer opposing the cuts io disabled peoples' entitlements.
"If you're worried about the rise of divisive populist politicians like Donald Trump and like Nigel Farage, it will be the Liberal Democrats standing up for true British values."

I have just been informed about this damage to the wall of the former Thorn Heys unit on Columbia Road in Oxton village.
I have arranged for it to be made safe and will contact the NHS Trust who still own this site
Disgusted that @wirralcouncil.bsky.social chose not to inconvenience Cadent by getting them to clean up their mess as they worked through Holmlands estate. I think sometimes they forget they're supposed to stand up for council taxpayers and not pander to contractors

Why is Wirral Council the only Merseyside authority without a bluesky account?
@merseysidepcc.bsky.social
Hi Emily, is there any reason why Merseyside police don't have any presence on Blue Sky?
@merseytravel.bsky.social is there any reason why merseyrail haven't set up a blue sky account yet?
