Oh neat they hacked the forum where I did my first interview as a game industry journalist. I feel so official!

Oh I was thinking of something else, I actually have almost twice the followers here as I do on Threads, and the average post is zeroes across the board.

Another look at my Bluesky experience versus my Threads experience. I would LOVE for this to be the place for me to focus. I actually had more followers here until yesterday. But for all the people swearing this is the place that lets you use your account however you choose, I pissed it off somehow.

I pretty much quit a job once after I made this for a zoom meeting and nobody understood the reference.

Now, let’s call it what it is. I’m absolutely flopping on Bluesky. Zero help at all with anything I’m doing. Threads has been way better for both engagement and showing me content I’m interested in. Neither has been close to what Twitter was in its prime. Principle has come with a high cost.

Since we’re doing the Twitter discourse: I’ve removed myself from it 100%. That wasn’t easy. I left 15 years in pro software hoping to write and do indie development and ALL my big opportunities to do so came through Twitter. It’s no longer worth it, *plus* that stuff doesn’t happen there anymore.

That’s the first example I can think of where you can actually *see* a candidate flip-flopping.

Before I left San Francisco my main point of contact said “you’ve been so great. Let us bring you out to MS BUILD” which admittedly got me excited because I could remember browsing their recruitment site in the high school computer lab and dreaming about the impossible. Never heard back on that. 😅

In 2018 I went to the GDC Expo at Microsoft’s invitation to do podcasts. I thought, “this week and these relationships will change the entire rest of my career.” I think within two years almost every single person I met and interacted with had moved on or been let go. The episodes also tanked. 🤷
