Maybe the 12 ton limit is for the weight of the concrete in the deck itself π
The open sidewalk partially fell through in late 2021 (12βx3β hole) and was fully opened later.
The oldest are 112 years, lots of replacements in the coming years. Iβm amazed any time I see anyone (illegally) parking a car on one, purely from a weight perspective.
A sign saying βWeight limit 12 tonsβ is posted in front of the closed 10th Ave bridge with a crumbling deck.
Multiple signs indicating road closed, followed by two layers of fences close off the 10th Ave bridge on the north side
I find it a little amusing that the 12 ton limit sign is still posted next to the crumbling and very much closed bridge (for a few years now).
A construction sign sits in front of the worksite around the 10th Ave Bridge saying βTrail closed begins March 11β
Looking into the former loading bay underneath the southernmost span of the 10th Ave Bridge. Thereβs a cinderblock wall at the far end of the unlit room. The Sears, Roebuck and Co. building towers behind.
Looking east up at the 10th Ave Bridge. The westernmost sidewalk of the deck is gone. Each column of the piers is supported by a steel rod connected to concrete blocks on the ground.
A wide angle view shows part of the old loading bay and the peers on the eastern side of the 10th Ave Bridge
I checked out the area yesterday. The former railroad loading bay of the Sears, Roebuck and Co building had its door removed, I've always wanted to look inside! The 10th Ave and Elliot Ave bridges were modified in 1928 when the building was constructed to be incorporated into the loading bay.
The Midtown Greenway will be closed with a detour starting on March 11 for the removal of the 10th Ave Bridge deck. The detour goes from Park Ave, along 28th St, and to the Cepro Site park via 10th Ave. Thankfully a short detour for this bridge!

It's March 9th and 49ΒΊF outside and I just heard someone in my building's air conditioning start up outside my window. This feels too soon!
π¨π¨π¨Sunday's Emergency has been upgraded to a Level 1 (FULL ACTIVATION) DJ Emergency Ride.
DJ @deveric.net will be providing the beats. @joyfulridersclub.bsky.social will be responsible for getting you home safely.
Congrats to Rep. @katiejonesmpls.bsky.social and family, who biked to the hospital last week and came back with baby Hans. Here's what she told me about the ride:
Keep May 9, June 6, July 12, and August 22 open on your calendar IMO IJS JAT. There'll be other surprises along the way, too!
There are so many trolly buses in Vancouver, Canada, I'm in love.
I donβt know what this means, but Iβm there. You had me at βbike partyβ!

Overalls are a great way to avoid being confused for ICE!
I'm such a biker that when I go downhill skiing on groomed runs, only my arms are sore the next day (from using my poles). Every day is a leg day when bike commuting!
You can hear the sea of people chanting βICE outβ as the ride was leaving Washburn Fair Oaks Park.

The Alex Pretti Memorial Ride in Minneapolis today was massive and so powerful to be a part of. I've seen estimates of 3-5 thousand riders, taking up to an hour for the ride to pass through an intersection.

The railroad tracks were part of a Milwaukee Road railroad corridor. After this route was abandoned, it was transformed into the Midtown Greenway, a rail trail in Minneapolis that follows the path of the old route. ...

ICE surveillance and "occupation" are hollowing out Twin Cities' cultural corridors.
Protesters join the "ICE Out" rally in downtown Minneapolis on Jan. 23.
It was awe-inspiring to see so many people out in the cold (-10ΒΊF) fighting against ICE and fascism at the #ICEProtest in #Minneapolis today. Alex Kormann from The Minnesota Star Tribune got a photo that included me and some friends.
I'm on the 4 bus heading downtown and this is the most packed I've ever seen a bus in Minneapolis, ever. Everyone is bundled up ready to stand outside in -14Β°F weather.
Wow, it's sunny and already 11ΒΊF warmer than when I woke up, it's only -10ΒΊF right now! #mnwx
