Yeah, especially given the sheer amount of anime I've seen that doesn't do it at all. But the industry is prone to laser-focusing on flooding the market with copies of the latest thing that won over the young weebs. Sometimes to the point where they forget other forms of anime exist.
I mean to say, I'm with you there. I checked out of Gurren Lagann for a similar reason. In this case, a comedy-heavy episode that tripped over every anime comedy trope I can't stand, combined with an intentional drop in animation quality (apparently an attempt at parody that everyone hated).
"It's just a thing in anime." Well, bones are just a thing in fish, yet I prefer my fish boneless.
I know any sequential artists that could pick-up a 4-page gig in the next month or so? Comedic piece about a knight who finds it easier to go on quests and fight dragons than to simply tell a lady that he loves her. For a larger project, you'd have to draw plate armor + a horse in three panels.
I'm tentatively reaching out for someone who would like a paid position for compositing animation! It's my slowest and most rough skillset and I would like to offload it to someone who knows what they're doing! You'd largely have full artistic liberty but I do have a general guide if that's okay!
