Whatever Vanillaware was one when they made Odin Sphere, I want them to mainline that shit.
Ultimate Survivor Kaiji is so funny because on first glance it seems like one of the most over-exaggerated ridiculous premises, but if you look at it for more than a little bit of time you realize the only change from our world it makes is that the extremely wealthy like games of chance a bit more.
My greatest achievement as a child was learning to play this on clarinet by ear, a task which would have been easy for someone who was not as useless at playing clarinet as I was.
‘Fun Zelda,’ that is to say a Zelda focused on the somewhat strange, quirky quality of the world and people, is at its best here I think; it feeds so well into the overarching and ever so slightly uneasy reality of what’s going on, which then feeds back into the goofs and strangeness. It’s great.
When will Mario meet Sora?
… oh my god is this why I love FFX too?
Blood Rage is my favourite of that run of games, but Ankh is always a good time 🙏
Um Jammer Undies
Anyway, I’m about to try and sleep (and hopefully feel a tiny bit better when I wake up) but before I do, I must ask you all one important question:
If you’re making an RPG with an overworld map, and It doesn’t have a crescent-moon shaped island… what are you even doing?
Related: every time I look up a game that has some mildly alienating visual quality (this game has film grain filtered on top of it, The Evil Within has a forced ‘cinematic’ aspect ratio by putting black bars on the screen) the first thing people do is ask how to remove them.
WHY?? IT’S COOL, MAN!
A girl stands half-turned, holding an ancient camera and looking off to the side. She’s standing in a degraded, dark building, a single light illuminating the front desk behind her, and further back a staircase slightly illuminated by blue-tinted moonlight. Further off to the side is a hallway with the tiniest bit of its own light source coming from around the corner. The character is the only thing fully in focus, with the entirety of the background slightly blurred, and moderately affected by film-grain.
I bounced off Mask of the Lunar Eclipse (fatal frame 4) hard last time. The controls are adjusted pretty… questionably, but I think my mistake was assuming mouse n’ keyboard would basically have a near-1-to-1 translation from the Wiimote controls. Turns out controller is the way to go.
Having fun!
One of my favourite internet-isms is when someone uses an absolute-style statement, or an extremely strong word choice, and then undercuts it.
‘They butchered the art design a little.’
Really? Did they? They butchered it just a little??
‘I REALLY loved it, but not that much.’
????
Kingdom Hearts intro islands are eternally burnt into my heart.
Chrono Cross’ entire setting is one of my favourites in the history of RPGs for this reason.
PlayStation 5 homepage featuring multiple resident evil games installed or installing, as well as Beyond Good and Evil, Grim Grimoire, and Valkyrie Elysium.
I have no space left on my computer for more games, so I have reinstalled all my available RE games on my PlayStation instead. Just replayed village last month and burned thru 9, so I dunno… I might start with RE1Remake and replay through what I’ve got until I bounce off.
Maybe I’ll play ‘em all.
Just wanted to get that out there for whatever reason.
Not having a doctor makes every clinic visit a crapshoot on whether I get follow ups or just start over, and the fact that it takes about a 3-5 hour wait (arriving at about 6:30 AM) just to get to see a doctor at all makes it tough to even go.
I tend to just let things get worse, which I have been.
Downside is things have been getting worse overall, and quicker than I’m comfortable with.
Used to be that I had one or two sources of (mild) chronic pain and some recurring (but not consistent) extreme stuff, and now it’s more like 3 or 4 things combining into pretty constant pain and discomfort.
Medical stuff taking a turn. The not great kind, unfortunately. We’ll see how well I bounce back this time, because generally my body’s pretty decent at recovery/ what I’ve gotten to calling a sort of inconsistent consistency.
I’m rarely heathy for long, but I tend to fight stuff off well. 🤞
SHELL OF A KING
Fatal Frame 2Make is about to come out, which means I have 2 days to pull off the most anemic heist of all time and secure my prize of 60 Canadian dollars (plus tax)
I like a lot of Marta’s art, her Patrician Geist, Somberwald Beastmaster, and Malakir Mire/ Rebirth in particular all absolutely rule, but for this one the alt Nahiri from Dominik just hits all the marks for me for the character; so much more than just the ‘she real mad’ which we get so often.
Extended art version MTG card ‘Nahiri, Forged in Fire’ Card text as follows: {4}{R}{W} Legendary Creature — Kor Artificer Affinity for Equipment (This spell costs {1} less to cast for each Equipment you control.) Whenever an equipped creature you control attacks, exile the top card of your library. You may play that card this turn. You may cast Equipment spells this way without paying their mana costs. 5/4 Illustrated by Marta Nael
(IMO much cooler) Alt art of the MTG card ‘Nahiri, Forged in Fury’ Card text as follows: Nahiri, Forged in Fury {4}{R}{W} Legendary Creature — Kor Artificer Affinity for Equipment (This spell costs {1} less to cast for each Equipment you control.) Whenever an equipped creature you control attacks, exile the top card of your library. You may play that card this turn. You may cast Equipment spells this way without paying their mana costs. 5/4 Illustrated by Dominik Mayer
Some cards I bought the other day arrived and you have no idea how betrayed I felt to discover they sent extended art Nahiri instead of the alt art Nahiri I ordered.
“Unfortunately for all of you, your Reality is about to be Fractured,” said White Liliana as Orzhov Ral Zarek sexily stood next to her. Loot fell to his knees, despondent. What could he do? Nobody in the multiverse could face this threat… “Perhaps I could be of assistance?” a voice said. When Loot turned around, there stood Captain James T. Kirk of the Starship Enterprise. There was a brief pause so everyone in the audience could applaud.
The most Carter that Carter has ever looked. Except of course other times when he has looked even more Carter. Truly, he is both at his apex, and will somehow also continue to become even more.
