Same here - being approached several times since yesterday from various sides while still on a visit to Germany.
The amount of ignorance regarding political issues is truly breathtaking.
This is a direct violation of long-standing US policy toward Taiwan.
Beginning with the 1982 version, the Six Assurances to Taiwan explicitly states that the U.S. will not consult with China on arms sales to Taiwan.
Nor will the U.S. set an end date of arms sales to Taiwan.

Gucke das erste Mal eine Trump Rede ganz und man muss schon sagen dass Medien völlig darin versagen die Tragweite des Wahnsinns zu erfassen und wiederzugeben. Es ist alles viel viel schlimmer als die paar Talking Points die üblicherweise rausdestilliert werden.

Das Deutschlandticket wird immer teurer, weil angeblich kein Geld da ist, aber dann gibt es Steuergeschenke an die Luftfahrtlobby.

This is not my point.
There are lots of places in Taiwan full of beauty / special features. However, many of those locations fall victim to greed for money - the attractive features are being destroyed in the process. Thus, pink-coloured glasses need to come off sometimes and reality to be named.
Sorry to repeat myself here:
Ita Thao has been completely ruined by overdevelopment. Certain tourists might find those shopping opportunities attractive, but the original serene atmosphere of this place - for which it was loved even 20 years ago - has been destroyed.

It’s not at all clear to me how the BBC can do any kind of serious journalism if its top two bosses can be forced to quit over such an obviously confected scandal. There is no substantive error here. How can the BBC report on Trump, or Farage, or anyone else, in these circumstances?

It wasn‘t even a “rant” as you labelled it, but a valid and important argument you made regarding a key factor for Taiwan‘s future.
