A cartoon by Ron Cobb (1975), showing a shadow of US B-52 bomber above cratered landscape. Two people who look like Vietnamese peasants look up; one says “they’re having problems with their economy again.”

Almost every home improvement project has a stage where you have to decide between the following:
- make another trip to Home Depot for the thing that will make this project easier
- resign to doing it the annoying way
I am at that stage and have decided to procrastinate with a bowl of ice cream.

Forgot to put out the garbage last night but woke up early enough to get it to the curb before the truck arrived.

MAHA-aligned research is entering the training data of AI models that millions of people (and increasingly governments) rely on.
Could be a bunch of finance-bro, DOGE types too. It definitely feels a lot like DOGE.
I was 9 so definitely had a sense of the terror. Biggest impact as a kid was Trick or Treating being cancelled that year.
A large, black wooden base with three outdoor lights affixed to the bottom. The lights are an aluminum cage over a glass housing with an LED filament bulb inside.
If you like a slightly industrial look you can just buy a bunch of parts at Home Depot and make your own.
A new worship resource has been released to help congregations mark the 70th anniversary of women being granted full clergy rights in The United Methodist Church.
I have watched this approximately 47 times and laughed out loud 47 times
What a delightful way to spend a Saturday!
Maud Lewis sits at a small table in a brightly decorated room, smiling warmly while holding a paintbrush and a small object in her hands. She wears a floral apron over a green dress and a headscarf. Around her are painting supplies, including jars, brushes, and a dark container on the table. The walls and nearby surfaces are covered with colorful folk-art paintings of flowers, animals, and simple scenes, filling the small space with bright reds, yellows, greens, and blues. Sunlight from the right side illuminates her face and the cluttered painting area.
If there was a surface, Maud Lewis painted on it.
She turned her small home into a colourful work of art.
While she was born with birth defects, she never let that stop her from capturing the beauty she saw in the world.
This is her story.

I heartily approve!
Canadians are staying home in record numbers rather than going to the USA and Houston closes 12/28 provincial museums. Houston really only seems to be interested in "rich white guy" opportunities.
I really enjoyed SailGP when it was last in Halifax. I'm sure there are some economic benefits to having it. But when the province is cutting 12/28 provincial museums, because of the dire financial circumstances we are in, giving a grant to SailGP is ridiculous. Houston is such a capitalist dweeb.

Unpopular opinion but turning right at a red light should not be legal in San Francisco (or anywhere else). Right on red makes horrors like this all too possible. sfstandard.com/2026/03/03/m...
James Doohan as Scotty sits at a control console aboard the USS Enterprise, wearing a red Starfleet uniform with a black collar and a delta insignia on his chest. He leans slightly forward with one hand resting on the console, his dark hair neatly combed to the side. Behind him are colorful control panels and futuristic set walls characteristic of the original Star Trek series bridge.
James Doohan wasn’t just Montgomery "Scotty" Scott, he was also a Canadian who served his country and landed on the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. Then he turned to acting, was trained by Lorne Greene and even helped develop the Klingon language.
This is his story.

Where is this rural community located? Do you have to Go West?
Kansas invalidated a trans woman's license even though she never changed her gender marker.
It's not about the gender marker. It's about targeting trans people and making their lives unlivable.
Ridiculous that the PCs think twinning more highways is a core service.
