Writer. Only work gets done here. Wovon man nicht sprechen kann, darüber muss man schweigen. Beneath the gold, the bitter steel. Our revenge will be the laughter of our children. I will not betray my soul. Fix your hearts or die. Tiocfaidh ár lá

I think it's gone now, but there was an exchange like this in Brendel's mentions yesterday that went on for like sixty posts. It was astonishing

i need to know who is holding Nicole Kidman hostage and making her do these dreadful tv shows. prime video's SCARPETTA is a real low point imo:
we need to form a protective circle between Nicole Kidman and her agent
oh man, now this makes the whole thing worth it. Thank you for letting me know!
The trailers for that Godzilla made it look SO GOOD, like a horror movie about the end of the world in which Bryan Cranston was the only voice of warning. Instead it's Aaron Taylor-Johnson being a chunk of basla wood
*very* glad to see I'm not the only person who still says "rough chuckles" there, Chucklebot
I always say I'm in the liking-things business. My default attitude going in is a reasonable "I hope this is good!" When I love something I throw my whole body into it. A truly great or moving episode will wreck my whole nervous system. Only way to fly
goddamn is this a breath of fresh air after Allred 2024
This is AI, sorry everyone! This guy didn't make this. The guy he credits in his pinned post ALSO didn't make it. I found the guy who "made" it on instagram and he didn't make it either: a computer did. Oh well!
War Is a Force That Gives Two out of Five of Us Meaning
Allow me to actually recommend Skull Island! It's a Dungeons & Dragons movie type movie.
"Porn addiction" is what people who've "prayed on" things call "enjoying masturbation"
Imagine if Elizabeth Holmes invented not only a bogus diabetes treatment, but *the entire concept of diabetes*: That's any app that promises to trace and treat "porn addiction"

In This House, We Believe
Wrapping up this monologue: I'd have eventually watched them anyway because of my residual childhood affection for Godzilla and King Kong and out of hopes of getting some good high-budget monster fights. If that is also you, you don't really have much to lose beyond a few evenings. (get stoned)
*five (Godzilla, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla x Kong, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire)
The best thing about Monarch, in fact, is that it's the only one other than Skull Island and New Empire that gave me people I even remember. Rebecca Hall might be in these movies at some point? Vera Farmiga? I honestly don't remember!
Kong: Skull Island is the only one of the four I'd say is good, and it's actually real good. Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire is the closes to that one in spirit and has the most colorful spectacle. The one with Ghidorah is worth seeing to see some more monsters. The ppl in most of them are ciphers.
Monarch dances between a lot of continuity raindrops you won't actually remember from the movies bc most of the movies are not memorable. That makes it a tough call. I watched them all b4 I got the gig, and it's not like it's a CHORE to watch giant monsters fight (except the 2015 Godzilla, pee-yew).
I mean I've certainly joked "Ben Horne would be in the files" but other than that the underlying stuff is all right there.
Not really. It already had that meaning.
what have i been saying!!!
My kid gets picked on in school some because they have green hair; "How dare this person do something I myself could choose to do but don't want to" is a very real source of anger for small minds
Mamdani angers certain journalists and their bosses because he's a well-educated child of privilege like they are, but he's the way he is and they're the way they are and it shames them and they can't deal with it. It's not hard to figure out
Two observations about this week's DTF St. Louis:
1. The unexpected use of brutalist architecture and expressionist lighting in what is essentially a Dateline NBC story elevates the proceedings like crazy
2. God saves his hottest middle-aged women for his most submissive middle-aged men
Between Mindhunter and Paradise, Cameron Britton is making a case for himself the best TV guest star of all time
The big scene in this one feels like getting a refrigerator dropped on your chest. The word choices.
