Your point about lowering their OW% is worth highlighting! I actually hadn't realized that there's an interaction between seed and OW%, though I probably should have, given how much I've thought about Swiss tiebreaker methods over the past few months...

Yeah that's roughly what we try to do, it's just a matter of putting in the effort. Of course, I'm one to talk, because seeding is the TO task I'm worst at and usually have the least energy for...

Now, even if you assume an optimal "LI seeding" method, you still have some "seed error", but it's a tradeoff between that and how much effort it takes. I think the LI system without "mistakes" should still achieve *most* of the goals you note? But I'm curious what you think there.

Yeah, those were pretty big whiffs in the seeding process. It doesn't necessarily implicate the way we do LI seeding *ideally*, because I think we just missed something obvious in both those cases and should have assigned them to a much higher "band."

naturally, the battlefy one is a damn video, for some inexplicable reason, while the startgg one is actually a readable article. do you know offhand how the format startgg discusses compares to what sendou has implemented?
