Good point, mags kinda went from telling you what to spend your pocket money on to being the thing you spent it on. Although by this stage I'd had 6-7 years of the Speccy & was looking at fancy consoles.
Then of course in the mid-late 90s I discovered emulation & realised I'd never be done with it.
Early '88 was the bliss point for cover tapes for me.
When the tapes had a stellar original game and a banging demo & the mag still had plenty of content.
Before the tapes were filled with a dozen variable quality programs (any decent games you generally already had) and the mag was a pamphlet.
By the same token, eldest kid is really starting to get into 80s music, so I put together a playlist of classics.
When it got to the Cult's "She Sells Sanctuary" they went "Urgh Dad, you put the William Hill music on there."

I'm not big into one on one brawlers at all, but this is magnificent. Even if the game isn't your bag, it's worth playing to admire the coding brilliance behind it.
I see he's made a Pong clone (with a name your own price option). I assume he got the rights from Atari.
Imagine spending years creating something so impressive, so beautiful, so FUN, releasing it for FREE to the community and the first thing that happens is having some joy sponge farting all over your comments section.
FFS I'm glad the joyless sod went to the trouble of typing it out in two different languages.
It's a COMPLETELY FREE community game, there's not even a donation option. I doubt Capcom would lose a single penny if of a small handful of nerds played a 35 year old game on a 40 year old computer.

Liezere is easily the greatest Latvian Ice Fishing Simulator I have ever played on the ZX Spectrum.
