The Sex Work Historianβs HIV Is Not A Crime Awareness Day infographic features various motivational slogans and the words: βI am not a crime.β The image also contains a grey peach (The Sex Work Historianβs logo) and a red umbrella (the international symbol for sex workersβ rights).
February 28 is #HIVIsNotACrimeAwarenessDay. Despite what the state says, being HIV/AIDS positive is not a crime. Just like how being gay, trans, Black, or a sex worker isnβt/shouldn't be a crime- all of which intersect with anti-HIV/AIDS stigma. You are here. You matter. And you arenβt a crime.
Working away in Cambridge this weekend only; come and see me while you can π

Sex ed Sunday All about sexual health tests
A sexual health test is a medical screening to check for sexually transmitted infections (STI). Getting a sexual health test is a responsible thing for any sexually active person to do. STI and blood borne viruses (BBV) are common and can affect any sexually active person regardless of age, gender or sexuality.
How often should I get tested for STI? How often you get tested is something you should discuss with your doctor or sexual health nurse. The right testing schedule depends on your individual circumstances, including the type of sex work you do, the services you offer, your sexual health risk factors, and whether youβre experiencing any symptoms. Testing may involve swabs (vaginal, anal, penis or throat), a urine test, and a blood test, depending on risks and symptoms. The βwindow periodβ between exposure and a positive test depends on the STI and the type of test thatβs done.
Many STI donβt show symptoms so itβs possible to have one without knowing it. Untreated STI can lead to long-term health issues, so regular testing is important! If a condom slips off, breaks or you have symptoms, visit a sexual health centre as soon as possible. Regular testing ensures early detection, access to treatment, and is an important part of self care.
STI testing is a regular part of being a sexually active person, and as a sex worker, an important part of self care. For more sexual health information, visit redbookonline.org.au

Sex work decriminalisation saves lives.
The government had adopted the UNAIDs target to reduce new HIV transmissions in England to zero by 2030. But evidence shows that the government targets on HIV cannot be met while the criminalisation of sex work continues.

Congratulations to our incredible colleagues in Scotland for Decrim for this hard-fought victory. Sex workers in Scotland demanded to be heard, and (some) politicians listened. Particular thanks to our stalwart champion @maggiechapman.bsky.social for her support!

Scottish Parliament will soon debate Regan's bill...
The Nordic Model is falsely framed as protection. In reality, it increases violence towards s3x workers, and creates barriers to reporting.
If you live in Scotland, please urge your MSP to oppose this dangerous bill: scotlandfordecrim.netlify.app
Infographic with title "Common questions about STIs" and questions: Are STI tests painful? Do all STIs have symptoms? Can I get an STI from oral sex? Can STIs cause problems in having children? with the asterisk of "STI: Sexually Transmitted Infection"
Text: "Are STI tests painful? They shouldnβt be, no. A clinician will mainly ask for a swab or urine sample. In some cases, a blood test. Mild discomfort possible, but no pain. Alert doctor if pain occurs." Spectra logo at bottom left.
Text on a dark green background: "Can STIs cause problems in having children?" Followed by: "Potentially. Some STIs can cause fertility issues if untreated, but most cause no long-term health problems."
Text reads: "The conclusion is: We recommend you get tested every 3-6 months or between sexual partners!".
What comes to mind when you think of STIs?
It's Sexually Transmitted Infection Questions Day: a day to raise awareness about sexually transmitted infections, what they are, and how you can practise safe s*x, and Spectra is here to answer your questions!
