A slide showing Nintendoβs game cycle lens for Donkey Kong.
Huh, Nintendo apparently thinks of 3D Action games as games where the core βcycleβ is a loop of a player character moving between two states (powered up and not powered up).
This isnβt about Bananza mode, itβs about Donkey Kong picking up voxels (terrain) and hitting enemies.
I had a chance to chat with @inonzur.bsky.social about his Starfield soundtrack, Todd Howard, music composition, working with Team Ninja on Rise of the Ronin, the Fallout 4 main theme, coffee, and much more: www.rpgsite.net/interview/19...
in case you've never seen it, this is Roger Ebert on The Mummy
I've been playing Marathon only in solo queues so far, and I have mostly great things to say about this game for now. Barely played so far (<5h) so it doesn't mean much though.
Monster Hunter Stories 3 on Switch 2, PS Portal, ROG Ally, and Steam Deck next to a cup of black coffee (cold brew), MH Stories 2 on Switch physical, and MH Stories on 3DS physical. To quote myself: "Logically speaking, my CactusMan design doesn't make sense for Capcom to choose for this game."
Anyway, it just made it to the top 6
Just finished the Ninja Gaiden 4 DLC. Nice epilogue (honestly hard to imagine how a story DLC can work for those games given how they typically end), nice weapons too.
Really hope that even if this game doesn't get more content, we get a NG5 someday from the same team!
I made Moss Moss, a #pico8 game about mossing the world and finding secrets. Hope you enjoy β₯

An indie title that is as unique as it is fun. Answer the call to adventure in this party-based beat 'em up RPG and solve the mystery of an abandoned village.
Grab it now!
So, shift in strategy from market expansion and revenue growth to margin protection.
Younger and less affluent players aren't going to leave their established games and low barrier of entry platforms, and dedicated PC players will just play other things.
But sure, higher margin % on lower revs.

Steam community: βCan we play as a male character?β
Me (indie dev in this economy):
βBest I can do is sentient tofu.β
Let me hold your hand when I say this: we don't have to set every artsy emo indie game in the PNW or PNW-adjacent biomes. It's all starting to bleed together yknow.
Demos I haven't played yet but am interested by: Parasite Mutant, Mightreya (played the previous one but not this one), Scott Pilgrim EX, Mecha Force (bug that made it unplayable, they were fixing it).
Played but not sure: Schrodinger's Call, Calx, Cure for Danmaku, Armatus, Hark the ghoul.
Now that the Steam next fest is over, some favorite demos, most of them still being available afaik:
Denshattack, Esoteric Ebb, Gunboat God, Cicadamata, Ultra0, Phonopolis, The Last Salvage Squad. Had a pretty great experience with all of those and would recommend them to people interested.
Anton Chigurh with altered subtitles: If the VS you developed brought you to this... ... of what use was the VS?
Re: vertical slices in game dev: I feel like if you make a VS and you don't wind up shipping the content you made in that VS, you didn't actually make a successful VS.
Oh, this is indicative of how you want the game to look and play? Then why didn't you ship it?
i should say, i know it still gets brought up from time to time but pseudoregalia on switch or any console is canned for the foreseeable future
while the game was made to run at 60 on the system with help from a contractor, nintendo never played ball. The application was rebuffed multiple times,
BOOMEROAD and NOTTOLOT are being delisted
I think these are games Bandai Namco used to train their devs and they released them for free, they have no micotransactions afaik and have good reviews.
Idk why they're being delisted

The rest of the world has largely caught up to Japan's level of play in games like SF6 and Guilty Gear, but it's gonna take a while (and probably a new game) for the same thing to happen in VF

RIP Xbox, what a shame.
