“Oh no, he blocked me” I say in the tone of Rachel McAdams in GAME NIGHT (a movie, a medium which I do not support)

I did read it, thanks
Conflating “film,” the art form, with nothing but “Hollywood,” the inter-connected corporations and conglomerates that produce big-budget movies, is like complaining that the novel is dead because of ALCHEMISED. (Which, yes, is something people have done)
There’s still two days left to enter into this free giveaway away of THE FRANCHISE on Goodreads!
They’re going the full Mork and Mindy, I see
Great thread. There are some film examples that pull this off. I'm thinking of Verhoeven in particular. (Not for kids though many of us saw his films too young anyway.) ROBOCOP, TOTAL RECALL, STARSHIP TROOPERS: all SF action films with political themes working side-by-side with the action stuff
I finally lost my shit about so-called AIs, LLMs, enshittification & everything fucking evil that @officialgrammarly.bsky.social is doing. I'm fucking furious, and not just about what 1 company has done. An open letter to Grammarly & the rest of the LLM hype machine www.moryan.com/an-open-lett...
As launch of my book gets closer, I'm starting to schedule some events. A few book fairs that I'll be at are now up on my website. More coming soon! thomas-elrod.com/events-1
A thing you should know about me is that I don’t think you should use AI ever, for anything, because you are a human being and you should embrace being alive
I regret to inform you that my now-deleted quote post supporting what I thought was a funny little bit of human made art was….not human made.
I am now going to listen to a compact disc and look at art books, I am sorry.
Thanks. Deleted my post. I hate the world.
I do hate that too and I shouldn’t have assumed they actually created it just because they said that they did
Ahhh…that sucks.
My debut is a SF novel about a Hollywood franchise gone too far. It comes out in May bookshop.org/p/books/the-...
Terrific profile of James Patterson. Surprisingly affecting. Did you know he funds stipends for Iowa Writers' Workshop students? That he dropped out of a PhD in English at Vanderbilt with an MA for a fiction thesis? www.bloomberg.com/news/feature...
I also learned from this that he wrote the lyrics to the Toys R Us jingle!

The Animaniacs keep working to ensure Warner Bros remains a cursed enterprise incapable of not driving its owners to madness.
And that at no point will we have an administration that implements an anti-trust agenda with real teeth. Very likely we get a Dem candidate who campaigns on policy of breaking up big tech and media companies. Biden admin laid the groundwork for it
Was happy to talk to @publisherswkly.bsky.social about THE FRANCHISE and some of the challenges of writing sci-fi right now.
If you have 30k just make a regular movie. I know the indie film scene of the 90s is long gone, but that’s all you needed back then. The rest was hard work and creativity. 30k! We are an unserious culture
i think jesse jackson was one of the most important american political figures of the post-war era and i think that his 1984 and 1988 campaigns for the democratic nomination still have a great deal to teach about forging a path to a more egalitarian world. RIP.
@hamishsteele.bsky.social Here's one for the podcast
I was making people watch BARRY LYNDON during sleepovers, for christsakes. Just way too much power to give a 13-year old.
My parents got me the Stanley Kubrick DVD box set for Christmas in 8th grade and it’s really surprising to me that I had any friends after that.
