New @thecccuk.bsky.social report finds in all scenarios achieving #NetZero is more cost-effective for the UK economy than ongoing reliance on fossil fuels. Hitting UK net zero target by 2050 would be cheaper than a single oil crisis & would bring health, economic & security benefits #StraitOfHormuz

It was reported, Trump had a one HOUR phone call with his (foreign advisor) counterpart Putin yesterday and then he made this public announcement.
Apparently, Trump will remove sanctions giving Putin the opportunity to benefit from this manufactured war.
They don't care if we know.

Bombing of Iranian oil facilities is causing a health and environmental nightmare
Acid rain, toxic air, contaminated water and soil, and the possibility of retaliatory strikes across the Middle East.
Israel’s bombing of Iran’s oil infrastructure will have major long-term environmental repercussions, experts have warned, as monitors admitted they were struggling to keep track of the environmental disasters arising from the widening war.

Oh yes, hydrogen is pretty much the worst idea! Just there to keep old fossil fuel companies alive a little longer.

Reaching net zero by 2050 is often framed as a cost burden.
The UK Climate Change Committee’s latest analysis suggests the opposite.
The real risk is fossil fuel dependency.

Oil and gas companies, backed by Trump are now lobbying the EU to pause its methane law.
Shocked? The fossil fuel industry doesn't want to be regulated.

They profit. Everyone else suffers.

The Labor Government are dismantling climate and domestic biodiversity science while giving contracts to USA ogliarchal fossil fuelled corporations and weapons manufacturers. They are trying to turn us into a military base. / nuclear waste dump and mini g site. They are killing our country.

Methane venting is not some avoidable mistake. It's a baked in part of gas extraction + processing.
If we continue to extract gas & oil, no way round it, we will be releasing vast amounts of this incredibly potent greenhouse gas.
We have to stop extracting fossil fuels, now.

Why would we expand our imports of fossil fuels, when we can see how war makes prices shoot up? Clean, green renewable energy is a better option - for energy independence, for the planet, and for our pockets.

This is an absolutely huge jump in oil prices.
It's also why Europe needs to get off fossil fuels asap (beyond climate change impact). We can't be beholden to this.

It would be one history‘s great plot twists if Trump has now managed to alert the entire world to why they should transition away from single-use fossils to renewables as quickly as any possible - even while having dismissed global warming.
And Hormuz isn‘t even Asia‘s biggest risk.

Crude oil prices, showing a very sharp increase in the last day, from around 65 to 101 dollars per barrel..
Oil prices wouldn't be all over the news today if more of our economy was powered by local, secure renewable energy.
This isn't an "energy crisis". It's a fossil fuel crisis.
44% of UK electricity came from renewables in 2025. More of that plus an electrified economy => no more oil shocks.

So let me get this straight ...
1. US bombs Iran
2. Oil price goes up a bit, benefitting Russia's petrostate
3. Russia gives Iran targeting info
4. Oil price shoots WAY up
5. US unsanctions Russian oil
