Farage and Badenoch wanting greater reliance on fossil fuels, esp. gas?

Quick, somebody check on their donors. Oh, a long list of fossil fuel interests?

Elon Musk's xAI wins permit to build power plant in Mississippi despite pollution concerns Mississippi regulators authorized xAI to build a power plant with 41 natural gas-burning turbines in Southaven to power its nearby data centers.

You'd be hard pressed to find a worse climate villain when it comes to data centres than Elon Musk.

New @thecccuk.bsky.social report finds in all scenarios achieving #NetZero is more cost-effective for the UK economy than ongoing reliance on fossil fuels. Hitting UK net zero target by 2050 would be cheaper than a single oil crisis & would bring health, economic & security benefits #StraitOfHormuz

It was reported, Trump had a one HOUR phone call with his (foreign advisor) counterpart Putin yesterday and then he made this public announcement.

Apparently, Trump will remove sanctions giving Putin the opportunity to benefit from this manufactured war.

They don't care if we know.

How oil tankers stuck in the Strait of Hormuz south of Iran threatens the Gulf ecosystem - Greenpeace International An alarming investigation by Greenpeace Germany has analysed the blocked Strait of Hormuz using ship movement data and satellite imagery and simulated the potential consequences of an oil spill in the...

The Strait of Hormuz and adjacent waters are home to pristine coral reefs, mangrove forests, and seagrass meadows.

Now, a 16-billion litre ecological time bomb has begun ticking in this unique Persian Gulf ecosystem.

Bombing of Iranian oil facilities is causing a health and environmental nightmare Acid rain, toxic air, contaminated water and soil, and the possibility of retaliatory strikes across the Middle East.

Israel’s bombing of Iran’s oil infrastructure will have major long-term environmental repercussions, experts have warned, as monitors admitted they were struggling to keep track of the environmental disasters arising from the widening war.

Oh yes, hydrogen is pretty much the worst idea! Just there to keep old fossil fuel companies alive a little longer.

Reaching net zero by 2050 is often framed as a cost burden.

The UK Climate Change Committee’s latest analysis suggests the opposite.

The real risk is fossil fuel dependency.

Increasing energy dependence on a volatile, globally traded commodity delivers neither energy security nor affordability. Hope that helps. 🫡

Shocked? The fossil fuel industry doesn't want to be regulated.

The Labor Government are dismantling climate and domestic biodiversity science while giving contracts to USA ogliarchal fossil fuelled corporations and weapons manufacturers. They are trying to turn us into a military base. / nuclear waste dump and mini g site. They are killing our country.

Methane venting is not some avoidable mistake. It's a baked in part of gas extraction + processing.

If we continue to extract gas & oil, no way round it, we will be releasing vast amounts of this incredibly potent greenhouse gas.

We have to stop extracting fossil fuels, now.

I joined @democracynow.org to discuss how fossil fuels are being used as weapons of war by all sides in the U.S.-Israeli War on Iran. "What we're seeing is just one of the clearest depictions yet of the frailty of a global order that is grounded in fossil fuels."

Why would we expand our imports of fossil fuels, when we can see how war makes prices shoot up? Clean, green renewable energy is a better option - for energy independence, for the planet, and for our pockets.

This is an absolutely huge jump in oil prices.

It's also why Europe needs to get off fossil fuels asap (beyond climate change impact). We can't be beholden to this.

It would be one history‘s great plot twists if Trump has now managed to alert the entire world to why they should transition away from single-use fossils to renewables as quickly as any possible - even while having dismissed global warming.

And Hormuz isn‘t even Asia‘s biggest risk.

Oil prices wouldn't be all over the news today if more of our economy was powered by local, secure renewable energy.

This isn't an "energy crisis". It's a fossil fuel crisis.

44% of UK electricity came from renewables in 2025. More of that plus an electrified economy => no more oil shocks.

1. US bombs Iran
2. Oil price goes up a bit, benefitting Russia's petrostate
3. Russia gives Iran targeting info
4. Oil price shoots WAY up
5. US unsanctions Russian oil
