My school district INSISTS on a 7:10 am start for HS. Kids are zombies for that first class. I’m at a magnet w a late start time and EVERY STUDENT is grateful for that and frequently says how much better they feel. What does the district want to do year after next? Change us to 7:10. 😑😞

I get yelled at for saying this but for many hundreds of years people went to university not to get diplomas or be employable but because immersion in the humanities was considered foundational to a good life, and school must return to its original purpose: the joy of learning.

My student who has had to re do several assignments bc of persistent AI use, and was flagged for it in his dual-enrollment classes as well spent his extra time today googling Meta glasses. His goal is to never have to think again. *deep sigh*
