Microsoft appears to be dead set on turning the late 2020s into the Year of the Linux desktop. If I’m gonna have to tinker with my machine to get it to work *anyway*, it may as well be with open source and private software without AI bloatware and spyware.

Even as a cynical scholar of rape culture, I'm shocked that this isn't the headline story on domestic politics everywhere right now. It's just an unfathomable abuse of power, in clear violation of the law.

Making it so that countries do not need to constantly extract resources *right this very second* in far flung places just to power themselves for the next 20sec, you could possibly uncouple “energy needs” and “conflicts” entirely, which could have the second effect of preventing climate change wars.

The core of “being good neighbors” is rooted in energy independence though. Energy is literally the reason why the US entered WWII, fought “communism” and spent 6 decades toppling stable governments in order to try to install favorable fascist regimes in places like Iran. Energy and profit motive.

Yuuuuuup. The “renewables equals energy independence” argument is literally unassailable, but that doesn’t stop certain people from trying anyway, and then getting proven completely wrong by the actions of the same people they used as a basis for their whole belief system.

People just want so desperately to be let off the hook for voting for something bad that was 100% predictable happening, when we had the chance to be able to influence what might happen into not happening because the other person was more politically aware of the moment they were in.

For me, I will always remember the first time I beat the final boss on The Legend of Dragoon after several hundred hours of gameplay…

Mindless screentime, sure it’s bad, but engaging in a long and detailed interactive story that happens to be on a screen? Ain’t nothing else like it.

You’ll come back to it, for everything there is a time. When the time is right you will do it again, more than you thought you ever would. There’s only so much time in the day and for the journey you’re on there’s too many needs that must be fulfilled for the amount of time you have. Take your time.

300 characters isn’t enough to get deep into the nuances, but commercial viability is the problem here. Electric tools (and cars) have always been around, the problem is that there was always a major compromise that made them unattractive and it almost always had to do w. Cords or batteries.

03.02.2026 17:25 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

That’s an improvement yes, but it’s not the main reason they’re now commercially viable. Try running the mower offa deep cycle lead-acid battery array, to get the same power delivery and voltage and length of use, you’re talking *at least* half a dozen chonky-boi batteries that take a day to charge

We legit now have battery powered *lawnmowers and snowblowers* that can work similarly to a *gas engine* and it is almost entirely because of battery tech improvements. Electric motors are still much the same as they were, we just now can actually deliver the power draw they crave under load.

This is quite possibly one of your best videos ever. I stayed late at work because I didn’t want to pause it to go to my car for the last 20 minutes. Immaculate, no notes.

Third party votes ARE wasted votes so long as we have the structural deficiencies in our election system to turn third parties into spoilers for the two major parties. Unless you can simultaneously convince everyone within a camp to vote for them, all you’re doing is splitting the ticket and losing.

The only positive thing I have to say about Musk re: Tesla is that it was an incredibly smart move to build out a charger network before majorly pushing the cars. But that was *ages* ago now, every decision since has either been tepid or stupid, and in some cases, like here, bordering on fraud.

Funny story, I didn’t check the news before checking BlueSky this time, so this vaguepost made me check the news to see “Oh hey, Water *is* Wet”

I will never to this day understand the obsession with *perfect* lawns. Even when they are well-maintained they look absolutely soulless, you don’t need this specific shitty kind of grass for erosion control or softness underfoot, and you spend a fortune to get next to nothing in return. Madness.

Now if they made a web browser that could only connect to things that haven’t been touched by “AI,” THAT I could get behind. But that would be helping the consumer stakeholders, not the shareholder.

One of the few universal truths about humans conversing in groups, is that if there is ever a medical condition mentioned that someone has, every single person who has a pet remedy they swear by will jump on the chance to give a “Have you tried [insert their remedy here]?” Response.

The one thing uniting Americans is that Trump is a terrible president and his admin is hurting us all. Great to see so many out in droves to bring attention to the fact that we know it.

I love when it comes up because we’ve already reaped most of the benefits of flying cars with regular car infra, Bridges and tunnels exist. What is adding a 3rd dimension o travel for people to not pay enough attention to going to do for us? We’d have to strictly regulate the paths you can go anyway

It can and will get worse, he’s already mobilizing the military directly against the citizenry. We’re in a full fascist dictatorship trying to take over our country. This is *literally* how it happened in 1930s Germany.
