i dont even need the game to be letting me kill the fuckers in one hit i just want a reliable stagger in one hit if i can aim right because sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't and its just one of those games that makes me feel like i'm not really making decisions i'm just kinda gesturing

everything feels like gently suggesting the game respond in some way rather than making an emphatic demand of it. sometimes the game just goes "hmm... maybe if you give me two to seven more bullets..." and other times it goes "wow, ding ding ding! winner! you're the 100th customer!" and 1shots them.

still cannot get over how god awful the tools in re2r feel but i am determined to beat this game regardless just out of stubbornness

Ah we can finally say that @jfg.land and I had the real priviledge of working on narrative preproduction for several years on @marathonthegame.bungie.net ; it has an incredible narrative team, and a very special game that takes its narrative very seriously, in a fresh way that honors its unique past

i really have such few complaints overall. im kinda happy to have a game in one of the more modern fps genres that i actually like.

i think adjusting for shields, the TTK in marathon is also just about where it ought to be

yea i like it. also you *can* pick them back up, but they will often break. one of the stats i think makes it less likely that they do that.

i think the loading is neat because it makes them feel like the machines they are, very capable tools but useless if handled improperly

dipshits always be going on about the marketplace of ideas but when ideas take off that they don't like they forget about the point in that repost: it's supply & demand, kind of. people want this shit, even if you don't.

of course just like regular flavor capitalists, they want monopoly, not market

one of the many things missed by the people who complain about “woke” for a living is that the spread of wokeness is as much of a function of demand as supply

i think most people would accept it as just not being terribly important to the game. or maybe i'm just being extremely charitable to a game i happen to like. the world may never know

he wasn't. he wasn't even "the composer" for BC in a way that you would think. he wasn't contracted to make the music iirc.

most of it is licensed tracks, possibly some royalty-free stuff too. i haven't looked into it for a while, sorry.

there's some decent stuff, but honestly most of it wasn't even mothman. a whooooole lot of it is done by other people, it's only the original tracks that were done by mothman.

i concur that it's relatively unremarkable overall. it's not really the critical part of the game as a creative project.

i would say that if you think you are interested, then play it; if you feel like you have something interesting after, then write it. i would be delighted to see it looked at for what it is and not as a mere locus of political animosity.

the original game had its share of puritan detractors, the kind who just were not willing to engage with it on any level whatsoever. a few people really wanted the dev to sort of bite on the gg-adjacent reflexive hatred of criticism, but they just seemed more interested in explaining the influences.

would recommend it anyway, mothman was hardly a critical component of the game. doekuramori (the actual developer) doesn't go off like this, at least not last I checked.

of course, do what you actually care to do; if this has put you off then it has and that's fair.

however i would suck someone off for a misriah just saying

the most valuable thing you can find is not a nice gun, it is a few bits of unstable Whatevers and some patch kits. the gun can help you open up the mobile containers called players

marathon is very funny if you accept the basic premise that nothing matters and that guns are only as useful as the runs they can end for other people

scaring the shit out of runner crews with nothing but sponsored kits and a willingness to die for social credit score
