This means that 9-year-old Lucy can deadlift me.
Keep hearing commentators/Hegseth saying a version of "this is not Iraq, we are not doing nation-building, it's a decapitation, the people will handle it."
That's what Iraq 2003 was supposed to be! Nation-building, de-Baathification, disbanding of Iraqi army, it all came *after* things went wrong.
I once took a class with him when I was at CIRβ¦
We even got our own Ahmad Chalabi!
At all three places where I taught, veterans and military students are admired for their service, their ability to get their academic work done quickly and extremely well, and for often balancing family and school.
Not *once* have I ever heard a faculty member disparage a military student.
The amount of shit going down on this planet right now because of Donald Trump is truly unfathomable.
Dozens of FBI witness interviews from the investigation of Jeffrey Epstein appear to be missing from the files released by the Department of Justice last month, according to a CNN review β including interviews related to a woman who accused President Trump of sexually assaulting her decades ago.
the rules are clear: Ryan Coogler gets to keep shooting until he misses

Burn it down, burn it all down. I donβt want to ever hear that MeToo went too far. It didnβt go far enough.

A historic photo of the Greensboro 4.
Feb. 1, 1960, 4 NC A&T students sat-in at the βwhites onlyβ counter at Woolworths in Greensboro. Their defiance ignited a movement led to the birth of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee.
Young people fuel movements. It is inspiring to see that today they still do.

The credibility test is this:
If some killed an ICE operative would the killerβs name be released?
Congress is not powerless. Democrats must unify around an actual agenda.
1. Vote no on DHS funding bill.
2. Repeal the multi-year $75 billion funding for ICE.
3. End qualified immunity for ICE agents.
4. Investigate and prosecute every single ICE agent who broke the law.
The Democratic leaders in Congress have repeatedly shown that they have no interest in leading an effective opposition.
They have no appetite for the legislative trench warfare this moment requires. They don't even have the will to speak about it clearly. They just want to be left alone.
Really hard to look at this and all the other examples of bravery and kindness from ordinary people in this moment not think also of the tremendous cowardice exhibited over the past year by some of the richest, most well-protected people in business, media and politics

"To date, 757,314 people β the majority children β have died from the funding cuts, according to ImpactCounter, which tracks the effect of USAID cuts via sophisticated modelling tools. That is 88 deaths every hour."
Great maps. Helpful article. And yet, once again, <every> one of these pieces that does not start with "seizing/acquiring π¬π± violates both the UN & NATO treaties & therefore also US domestic law" is failing as journalism. The frame here totally legitimizes & normalizes all of this.
To be honest, though, the city should force them to make this explicit. Show up with an arrest warrant and then have them brandish their guns and refuse to accept it, like the criminal gang they are.
Remember, a non-trivial part of that is Trump wanting Greenland because it looks so big in the Mercator projection
"I love maps. And I always said: 'Look at the size of this. It's massive. That should be part of the United States.'"

Is it literature though?
Anyway, it's hard to see how this makes the US more secure. And I can't help looking at the pictures of this massive naval deployment and thinking about how much it cost relative to giving Ukraine what it needs to defend itself. 10/10

When we say "no, everything hasn't been digitized," I need you to understand that we really mean is that virtually nothing has been digitized. This is because the realm of primary sources that historians use is incomprehensibly large.
