A picture of a baggage carousel at the airport. The words in red in the upper right hand corner read "TFW you know you've made a HUGE mistake." The text in the lower left corner reads "No Time Like the Present by Fiona West."
The further they got away from the airport, the more Tharushi Udawatte knew she had made a gigantic mistake. The smiling white man with dark hair sprinkled with gray who’d picked her up was still smiling at her as she sat in the passenger seat. The only thing keeping her from freaking out was the quiet classical music playing from the car’s speakers.
“Is this your first time in Oregon?”
She nodded, regretting sitting up front. It hadn’t been a long flight from Chicago, but traveling always took it out of her. Maybe if she’d sat in the back, he would’ve left her alone. Then again, this guy—Dr. Durand—seemed pretty determined to be friendly.
“Oh, you’re going to love it here. You can’t beat Oregon for fresh fruit and fresh air.”
Based on her preliminary research, they grew a lot of grapes here for wine, but as she looked out the window, she mostly saw cows, horses, and sheep grazing, perhaps the odd alpaca. When she’d looked at it on the map, she hadn’t realized it was so...rural.
Our city girl knew Timber Falls was an hour from Portland...however, she underestimated how many trees, deer, and spiders we could fit in that space. 🥲 #timberfalls 🩵📚🎄🎁 #aapireads #IRromance
