One year. Unforgotten, also at #ASEEES24.

Thank you for a wonderful conference @aseees.bsky.social and an amazing panel! I'm very happy I got to meet so many great scholars and about the opportunity to present my research 💫 #ASEEES24
Following up on this earlier observation: it's fascinating how Russian TV presented two new spatial categories for referring to Russia's invasion and occupation of Ukrainian territories at *precisely* the same time in September 2022. This was the focus of my presentation at #ASEEES24. 1/9

I've returned from #ASEEES24 very tired, but very inspired! A new research project beckons, although the final deadlines to submit my dissertation also loom...
I was also honored to chair a panel of exciting grad student papers on ways ordinary or marginalized subjects of the 19thc Russian empire employed rumors, conspiracies, & misinformation to negotiate vis-a-vis the state. The future of the field is bright if people will effing HIRE. #ASEEES24 1/2

Back from #aseees24 exhausted and excited by many great panels. The conference seems to be back to full strength, tho the book hall is sadly still a bit thin. This didn't stop us from coming back with 2 bags full. I'm most excited about:
Glad to join the exclusive evening tour at the Icon Museum in Clinton, MA during the ASEEES conference. Looking at iconography from as early as 16th-Century Russia and the Eastern Church. Small but absolutely gorgeous. The only one in North America. All should go. #ASEEES24

Brought this book from #ASEEES24. And it is amazing. I’ve been reading it on the plane, in the dog park, every spare second I get. A huge thanks to @popovaprof.bsky.social and @oxanashevel.bsky.social for writing such a timely, thoughtful, and easy to read book!
Finally, some amazing news for international fans of @cornellupress.bsky.social and #NIUPress books. For international orders, the 40% #ASEEES24 discount (09EXP40) can be used with our superb distributor, @capacademicbooks.bsky.social, here: www.combinedacademic.co.uk/search-resul...

Dear @aseees.bsky.social and #ASEEES24 team - Meeting you was pretty great. Attending your panels and roundtables and workshops was pretty great too. Hearing about your ideas, research, work, books, and initiatives was, guess what, also pretty great. Overwhelmingly so. (1/4)
Back to the bookstore! Hope everyone is back safely after a wonderful @aseees.bsky.social conference in Boston. No rest for us, off to the airport to pick up the latest cargo of books from Ukraine, Czech Republic, Poland and more! #ASEEES24
#aseees24 book haul, representative of my increasingly eclectic research interests (East European empires, revolutionary Ukraine, interwar Czechoslovakia, late Soviet Union).
As my friend said "Anthropologically, the coffee is the conference". Had plenty of good coffee and seafood, friends and books and panels, a piercing, conquered complicated logistics and lost and found my scarf. Success! #ASEEES24
Today at #aseees24: during the last session I completely lose it during my paper and the entire room ends up laughing uncontrollably for several minutes. I am a little bit embarrassed? But what can you do. It turns out a paper on accidental death brings out the absurdity of human existence.
Goodbye Boston and #ASEEES24 - I've collected books, memories, seminar ideas, headaches and countless moments of joy about my field, my colleagues (and even my project)
Thank you @aseees.bsky.social
#ASEEES24 officially in the books. Inspiring panels, great fun to present with new and old colleagues, and a bit emotional for me to see my book out there. Many many thanks to @michalfrankl.bsky.social for being the catalyst for my participation yet again.
Some Boston street material culture: fire department box, water meter cover, & graffiti-covered electrical box. #ASEEES24
Well, that's a wrap for me at #ASEEES24 in Boston! I had a great time learning, connecting, & sharing with other scholars. I'm so ready to be finished with being on the road for basically 3 weeks. In an hour, I'll be boarding to head home. Looking forward to the holidays! 🦃🎄🎆
Sunday morning at #aseees24: the Enlightenment origins of patriarchy and an astrophysicist/nun!
My last panel at #ASEEES24, but ending with an important subject. Bitter Years: Soviet Antisemitism in the Wake of the Holocaust.

”Do we have an IT specialist in the room?”
”Can we borrow someone’s laptop? Like, seriously. Non-Mac laptop. Anyone?”
Good morning @aseees.bsky.social Boston! It's the last hours of the exhibit hall, make sure to stop by and visit all the folks bringing you great books, sometimes even yours! #aseees24
I have time for a couple more panels before my flight home. This one is on Holocaust Remembrance of Roma and Sinti in Communist East Central Europe: Panel of the Prague Forum for Romani Histories. #ASEEES24
UNC history is well represented at #ASEEES24! And this isn’t even all of us… @unchistory.bsky.social
I loved wandering around Boston a bit. The 1960s Prudential building bathed in golden dawn. A peacock like awning. Patina of bronze facades. #ASEEES24
