WRT books, I don't see future for self-publishing ac work bc it's too much for indivs handle + low value for T&P #AcBookWeek #indyacademics

Emerging Tools and Metrics in the Book Impact Space After years of roaring success for Open Access journals and article-level metrics, there is now a new wave of innovation from publishers, funders and universities assessment around books. For those in disciplines where the majority of research output is published as monographs, this likely comes as a relief. An increased number of books indexed in citation databases, where we can gain insight into the citation behaviour and longevity of books. At the same time, using services such as Altmetric, we know more about how and where books are discussed online— in social media, but also in news articles, blogs and policy documents. All of these new developments give book authors and editors more credit for their hard work and offer new metrics for research assessments. During this event we will feature a series of speakers who play a pivotal role in this evolution and work on the cutting edge of book innovation.
