Park Hyung Sik Goes Dark in ‘Buried Hearts,’ Teases Career-Defining Transformation Park Hyung Sik is ready to shatter his pretty boy image, as revealed in a striking new photoshoot ahead of his transformative role in SBS’s upcoming thriller Buried Hearts. The spread captures the actor with piercing gazes and steely expressions, offering a glimpse of his darker turn in the series, which premieres February 14th. Park will portray Seo Dong Ju, an ambitious hacker, marking a sharp departure from his previous romantic lead roles. Early teasers have already set social media buzzing with his unexpectedly cold and shadowy portrayal. “I believe we all have our own treasure,” Park shared about the series. “This show reveals how fierce, mean, and vicious we can become when that treasure is at risk of being taken away by others. While filming, I found myself constantly reflecting on what my own treasure might be, and what goals I should be living for.” The actor sees Buried Hearts as his career watershed moment. “I know there are certain fixed perceptions and images of me as an actor. So when this project came along, I was amazed and curious about what the director saw in me,” Park revealed. “While showing diverse sides is an actor’s calling, timing and finding the right project isn’t easy. Now, after military service and growing older, I finally feel ready to show a new side of myself.” Describing his character, Park explained, “I saw him as an arrogant person with the special gift of photographic memory. He’s someone confident enough to use his abilities to achieve his ambitions. However, while he’s intelligent, he’s not necessarily wise, which sometimes backs him into a corner.” The actor also shared his career aspirations, citing James McAvoy’s tour-de-force performance in M. Night Shyamalan’s Split as inspiration. “I want to be an actor who breaks through their fixed image like McAvoy did in ‘Split.’ His portrayal of multiple personalities was truly remarkable,” he said. “I hope to be an actor who constantly pursues something new.
