Many people ask me what I study as an algebraic combinatorialist. I don't usually share too much to avoid doxxing myself (it's a niche area after all), but here's an interesting example I feel compelled to share:

This trend has been going viral on tw*tter so I'll cross-post my entry here as well.

Four math books that had a big influence on my mathematical thinking. Your turn.

Hey babe, are you the type of conjugate-partition symmetry exhibited by Macdonald polynomials? Cuz damn, you're a (q,t)!

Symmetric function theorists:
Since the plethystic substitution & evaluation maps don't commute in general due to an extra factor of (-1)^n involved when evaluating the plethysm of a negation (a problem when n is odd), would a characteristic 2 setting solve this problem?

Babai, 1980: All finite groups except C₂², C₂³, C₂⁴, C₃² and Q₈ admit a digraphical regular representation (DRR).
A group G admits a DRR if there exists a directed graph X whose automorphism group is isomorphic to G and acts regularly on the vertex set of X.

I hope to find a partner equally obsessed with algebraic combinatorics in the future. Maybe, just maybe, we'll be able to find a Littlewood-Richardson rule for multiplying two Schubert polynomials at some point.

What I find fascinating about #AlgComb is that it's an umbrella term for lots of loosely related stuff. Someone studying q-analogs of combinatorial quantities might know little about matroids or symmetric functions or Hodge theory, and vice versa. I've only just begun uncovering some of this haha

A nice resource for those interested in the various families of polynomials associated with the ring of symmetric functions.

Just for my own later reference:

Wanna use this symbol to denote a singular surface, or sth else in the future.

The automorphism group of the Cartesian product of connected prime graphs is isomorphic to the aut group of the disjoint union of the prime factors. Is there a category-theoretic explanation? In the category of sets, ⊔ is dual to ×. Is there something similar in the cat of graphs?

Alright, 1st #AlgComb post

Tatsuyuki Hikita recently claimed to have proven the Stanley-Stembridge conjecture. Obviously, big if true, but what do experts think? Whilst I can't judge the proof's validity as a layman, the probabilistic methods introduced are interesting to say the least.

Any algebraic combinatorialists (incl. algebraic graph theorists) here? Would like to know more people in the field I'm most interested in, and possibly make an algcomb starter pack here.
Non-algcomb people welcome too as long as there's interest in discussing algcomb topics.
