Despite the attentions of Founding Father Dr Ben Rush, Mercer died on Jan 12th.

Happy Burning of Norfolk Day!
250 Years ago at 3PM four ships of the British fleet opened fire on Norfolk. Mounting more than 100 guns, they cannonaded the town well into the evening. Landing parties went ashore and set fire to various building.
