This is a screenshot of a text message and the Apple Intelligence overlay.
The text message is partially occluded:
"[In total, Ajinomoto is recalling nearly" 37 million pounds of food sold under the Kroger, Ling Ling, Tai Pei and Trader JOe's Labels, as well as under its house Ajinomoto brand, according to the statement."
Apple Intelligence sees the "37 million pounds" and hyperlinks it. The overlay offers five options:
49,630,454.32 USD (if "pounds" were GBP, the currency)
Grams (16,782,917,690g)
Kilograms (16,782.918kg)
Ounces (592,000,000 oz)
Pounds (37,000,000 lb)
where:
1) 49,630,452.32 USD -- interpreting "pounds" as GBP, the currency, and doing an approximate conversion. This is a reasonable suggestion.
2) Conversion to grams is dumb because the magnitude is so large.
3) Conversion to Kilograms is a reasonable suggestion
4) Converting to ounces is dumb for the same reason it is in #2.
5) Converting pounds to pounds is... wasting space." title="This is a screenshot of a text message and the Apple Intelligence overlay.
Even in the beta, #AppleIntelligence is still frustratingly dumb.
GBP to USD is reasonable.
Pounds to Kg is reasonable.
Converting to g and ounces results in unwieldy numbers.
Converting pounds to itself ... 🙄
