#BaB and I remember a discussion of this else where and a fan defending it by "but she did bad things." None of the profoundly evil men in this book get the same treatment. Like... if not for this shit, she'd be a really compelling character. But ugly woman is a key part of her crimes sadly

#BaB also the fat phobia towards Lu Zhushu is just vile. The book compared her to an old plastic display of a burger stored away with the implication she was fake, greasy and dusty. And like I said her looks and loss of sanity is a big part of what's wrong with her

#BaB honestly, coming back to this and part of my problem with the above stuff starting with the sex scenes is I never feel like He Yu actually values Xie Qingcheng. He's always violent and brutal and I feel like the doc gets off but hates it

#BaB book 7 and this might be the one that finally gets me to drop the series. The sex scenes are still a chore. Also i need He Yu's moms fatness to stop being emphasized. I get that part of her trauma is the loss of her looks but its so mean spirited
