BC 🇨🇦 The 2026 staffing of LTC & Homecare is projected $500 Million for private Agency nurses & LPNs. They are quitting public govt healthcare- burnout.

Homecare was just cut significantly on Jan. 1 so families are scrambling to be/find caregivers.
Mostly Women bear the burden.

This cut is in itself appalling (just read the streets in any city) but the lack of transparency is troubling, too. Itemize all #bcbudget cuts, @davidebybc.bsky.social & @governmentofbc.bsky.social. We deserve clarity re what's to be lost. Including the #Queensborough School Bus. #NewWest #BCpoli

NDP was able to do all that for a time under Horgan’s leadership until Eby threw it all away.

But looking back, Horgan surely knew what he was doing when he signed the cabinet order that separated Eby from control over the budget & BCs finances

“One of the myth-busting things that we were able to do was to end the narrative that the NDP can’t manage money

With Carole James as finance minister, we chalked up some massive surpluses that enabled us to pay down BC debt as well.” Horgan

But come fall Eby approved a $4 billion top up to the public sector bargaining mandate in hopes of improving his showing in a party leadership vote by a few percentage points.

At great cost to the treasury, it did.

Eby himself briefly picked up the theme, lecturing public sector workers to lower expectations about what the government could afford in the latest round of contract negotiations.

So, there’s no money in the Provincial budget to rebuild the Red Bridge any time soon? #bcbudget #bcpolitics #kamloops

Today, the #BCBudget is under fire. I’m appalled that even the #NDP refuse to focus on reinventing the provincial economy beyond LNG & resources extraction. In #BC & "every day 100 soccer fields of irreplaceable old growth are cut down. Only a fraction of the most endangered stands are protected.“

ANALYSIS | Once again, B.C. NDP frames budget as a ‘balance,’ but this time with more red ink | CBC News Some B.C. budgets have big spending announcements, tax cuts, or bold new directions that inspire excited press releases from different partisans or stakeholders. The 2026 budget wasn't one of them.

“We have an affordability crisis, we have a housing crisis … and we have this government who says, ‘Hold on, we're gonna, just kind of tread water.’” says @iglikaivanova.bsky.social from @bcpolicy.bsky.social

🚨Hidden austerity is still austerity🚨

Corporations and billionaires are the winners of the BC NDP budget, while working people are forced to foot the bill.

Eby’s cuts abandon $10-a-day childcare, cancels public housing, and puts thousands of public servants out of work.

When BC's consumer carbon tax was first introduced, it was accompanied by tax cuts to both personal and corporate taxes to make it revenue-neutral. But when it was eliminated last spring, these tax cuts were not reversed. The result is a $2 billion hole in BC's finances. #BCBudget
