Close-up on the shackle end of my main halyard line. It is tied with a halyard hitch and the end has been whipped with red twine.
Added whipped-ends (to prevent fraying) to the halyard lines!
I might get bored this winter and learn how to splice, but for now a halyard hitch knot is fine.

The metal solenoid mounting fins stick over the edge of the mounting plate
A pair of bolt cutters, massively oversized for this job. This is definitely not a bad idea
The solenoid mounting fins perfectly align with the mounting board now. Nothing bad happened at all
Zipties and flush cutters, who could ask for better?
The mounting fins on the solenoid are just ever so slightly too long.
But we can fix that with bolt cutters!
Which I own for completely legitimate reasons. What are you, a cop?
Perfect fit!

The obvious solution is to just use a single, larger cable gland.
Might buy another box and try that later

Holding a ruler up to measure the fins of a steel I-beam
Time to build a junction box for the winch controller!
Which is fun because i want it to fit between the fins of this beam
3D print is probably the perfect solution, but I still haven't learned how to make things

They told us they could make it shine. I think they did a fine job! She’s back in the water and ready for some fun! #boatstuff #lakeerie #boating
A 6-gang marine electrical panel. The mounting screws have been drilled out.
CW Entomophobia The rear of the electrical panel. There is an old wasp nest encasing most of the wiring
CW: Entomophobia
WELP
I think I figured out why most of the electrical doesn't work...
Just gonna Nope out of dealing with this any more today.

Hoping to get the boat at least dunked into water this weekend.
It'll be at an artificial lake that's a bit cramped for actual sailing, but i want to at least get her rigged and see how she floats balance-wise.
(Still waiting on registration stuff)

Ah fuck.
Found a soft spot on the boat deck, right next to the mast-foot. -_-
That means at some point I will be cutting a huge section of the deck off to replace the plywood core and playing with a lot of epoxy and fiberglass
#BoatStuff
I probably won't attempt to step the mast up today.
USPS lost the package with the proper mast pin, I'm home alone, and it's roughly 4000° outside today.
#BoatStuff
Oh. It's a separate button.
#BoatStuff
Double checked everything and the winch works! It screams a little but it's only for stepping the mast up and down.
Apparently BlueSky doesn't do video yet and I dunno how to convert to gif on my phone...

Close-up of an electric winch mounted to a boat trailer. It is rusty and the label has been sun-bleached.
I really hope I don't have to replace this thing as well. It's rusted to hell and I'm not sure how to do corrosion control on steel cable.

A closeup of a wired winch solenoid. There is a wireless control box dangling from it.
Went ahead and replaced the winch solenoid and ordered a real wireless kit rather than building my own.
Mostly because I don't have that much free time.

A close up of a Maine battery case. The cover has been removed and the quick-connector is wired directly to the battery instead of the case terminals.
Of course, the holes in this winch power cable are too small.
I'll drill them out if this works.

A heavy cable runs from an ad hoc wiring job on a boat trailer winch to an opened marine-battery case.
Home alone, playing with electricity.

An angle grinder sits next to a very old battery. There is a cut bar of steel that had been welded to hold the battery in place for some reason?!
This battery is super-dead.
Battery charger/tester doesn't even register it's connected.
Mr. Angle-Grinder got it loose tho
#BoatStuff
An ancient car battery sits on a boat trailer and has had a steel retaining band welded to the frame so the battery cannot be removed or replaced
What was the thought process here?
Why would you weld a battery in place?!

Best canal-boat name ever. #boatstuff

They did, in fact, need a bigger boat...

Shoes need a good home. Especially on the dock. Introducing the ultimate shoe box. It's like a condo building for your shoes. Best of all, like all @StowawaySteps products, it disassembles and stows neatly in a bag!

In case anyone still has the issue of remembering which one is "starboard" and which is "port" like I do...and I work at a Marina for 4 years...
