Had a great time with the HorrorAddicts.net crew, @macarrick.bsky.social and the good folks on the Black Poetics panel (@babblewocky.bsky.social is who I can find here) at #BayCon this year! Looking forward to getting my act together w/r/t the writing workshop next year.

#baycon is almost over. It's been a lot of fun, but I'm tired and ready for a quiet home with significantly fewer people.
I spent most of my time staffing the Oasis, the chill self-care space. We're there for folks who've gotten overwhelmed by the con. I like the work.
@skunkheart.bsky.social has skewered D&D—and #FitD, and... basically every #TTRPG I've ever run or played!—as "project management" games, ie "organizing a group to slay a monster" in this fascinating #BayCon panel on "Professional GMing".
Ticked off two bucket-list TTRPGs at #BayCon, yesterday:
✅ Delta Green (1997/2016), a Cthulhu meets X-Files horror investigation
✅ Firefly (2014), the Cortex "Plus" game based on the TV show.

So, I'm kinda sorry to be missing #BayCon. Maybe it's no longer my speed? I hope not. I used to LOVE BayCon. Maybe, in future, I'll come back, and it will be an old friend I miss dearly and am happy to get to know all over again.
But for now, I'll be somewhere else.
So, I was trying to decide whether to go to #BayCon, because every year, I know fewer people there, and every year, my social anxiety gets worse and I drink more to overcome it...
...and a girlfriend just asked me to spend that week in her place, with her cat, as she leaves to visit family.
