Bembridge lifeboat station, early morning. The air is so crisp it freezes halfway up the nostrils. It's possible there's a beach party clearing up its debris in the woods behind this point of view, the crushing of Heineken cans is drowning out the lilting sound of the waves.
Drew this as a birthday gift, returning to a favourite subject of mine, the Bembridge lifeboat station on the Isle of Wight, encased in an early morning mist.

Monochrome photograph looking up at Bembridge Windmill on the Isle of Wight. The top sail casts a checked shadow on the tower of the structure. A small white flag flies from the top. Grade I listed windmill built around 1700 is the only surviving windmill on the island. It has been a shelter in the world wars, a lookout post and even inspired JMW Turner. Owned and run by the National Trust and wonderful to visit.

Sun starts its descent as I looked out of the window of Bembridge Windmill, built in the early 1700s. No glass in the window just an iron rod vertically down the centre. The trellis is actually the back of one of the windmill sails. View out is across green fields in the early evening.

Colour photograph of the inside wooden workings of Bembridge Windmill, built in the early 1700s. Colours are warm tones of honey and creams with dark browns in the shadows. Focal point is the wooden chute with a hessian bag anchored underneath to collect the flour as it descends. The windmill is a Grade I listed building and the only surviving one on the Isle of Wight.
