Coinbase in Talks with Indian Authorities to Return After 2023 Exit Coinbase is reportedly in discussions with Indian authorities, including the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), in an effort to regain approval to operate in India, a market it exited in 2023, according to Tech Crunch. The U.S.-based cryptocurrency exchange ceased its operations in the country in 2022, citing informal pressure from the Reserve Bank of India. Later, in 2023, Coinbase halted new user registrations, but continued offering its Coinbase wallet to Indian users.

Coinbase is negotiating with India's Financial Intelligence Unit to re-enter the market after suspending operations in 2022.
