Dr. DeCongé-Watson was the 15th African-American woman to receive a PhD in Math (2-Normed Lattices and 2-Metric Spaces, 1968). She is notably worked on Cauchy's Problem for Higher-Order Abstract Parabolic Equations. She taught several grade school teachers for their math competency exams before she became a professor at Southern University.
